Can you provide us with the output from the file "user.log", accessible from the UI as 'admin' under "Settings->Logs".
The web-UI pages are totally nonfunctional. Please send me the complete file path for user.log and any file which might contain the version number, and I will reply with the info you asked for.

Hi Scott,

Sorry i did not realize that the UI was down....
If you have commandline-access, can you as root run:

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -y update

and

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -y dist-upgrade

and provide the output from both commands?

Sorry, I no longer have WAN access from bubba. I had to rearrange some of my gear in order to post to the forum from my PC. Now when I plug in bubba to the cable modem again, there is no WAN access (eth0). :oops:

So I cannot run these commands, and I cannot use web UI at all.

What should I do? I thought this was an easy upgrade. I did not intend to volunteer to join your QA department!! :( Meanwhile I only have one device in the house with internet access until I fix this mess.

Tonight (10 hours from now) I will take a crash course in Debian network configuration but I cannot afford to spend hours poking around with your system. If you could please point me to the full path for:
  • the file "user.log", accessible from the UI as 'admin' under "Settings->Logs"
  • the file containing the version number of web-UI
  • any utilities for configuring DHCP with my ISP
Currently I can access bubba only on eth1.

Hi,

Can you post the content of "/etc/apache2/conf.d"

Code: Select all

ls -l /etc/apache2/conf.d
The probable cause here is that there are remains of an old upgrade there that interferes.

If there are two files that starts with admin.conf, one with a suffix, delete the file with the suffix.

Code: Select all

rm /etc/apache2/conf.d/admin.conf.*
Then try running the update again.

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -y update

and

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get -y dist-upgrade

@scott

We are very sorry that the upgrade has failed and will do our best to resolve it as soon as possible, it is is of course our ambition that the upgrades shall go smoothly, and have done so in our test-setups.
If you place bubba as router again, although you do not have internet access Bubba should have access to the internet.

Hello excito,

Thanks for this major upgrade!!

I have one burning question: is the Load Cycle problem solved with this update??

Or do we still need the script for keep the disk active??

The problem might lie in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled, could you post us the content of that directory?

Scott,

/var/log/user.log
As a general rule, log files are almost always in /var/log in Linux distros
Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, don't know your level of expertise with Linux.
Anytime you need to find something, I'd suggest using the linux command "find". type 'man find' into google or your command line (without the single quotes) for a syntax guide

You don't need WAN access, LAN if fine. As long as you have one interface working, you can fix almost anything.

Other thing to post I suggest is the output of ifconfig -a

If you want help with networking in general, PM me

I think the problem might lie in the existence of /etc/apache2/sites-available/bubba443, as bubba contains (at least should) https information.

I've now renamed all different bubba files to other names with different suffix. There is now only original bubba file in sites-available (which is a link) and the link in sites-enabled.

/etc/apache2/sites-available:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 Jul 6 11:57 bubba -> /usr/share/bubba-frontend/apache.site
/etc/apache2/sites-enabled:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 34 Jul 6 17:09 bubba -> /etc/apache2/sites-available/bubba

Still no luck :-(

Webserver won't start because of that error in line 666:
bubba:/etc/apache2/sites-enabled# /etc/init.d/apache2 start
Starting web server (apache2)...Syntax error on line 666 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf:

Might be that one of the files have gotten an extra declaration where it shouldn't; Can you check that following command only returns one entry: "grep FastCgiExternalServer -R /etc/apache2/"; should result in:
test@bubba:/etc/apache2$ grep FastCgiExternalServer -R /etc/apache2/
