The 2.4-RC1 is already released, see first post. The 2.4 stable release is in the works now, can't give any promises on release date yet though.

Hi johannes,

take your time. Better a stable 2.4 as an release that gives trouble for user they don't have the experience to fix things. Christmas is near by :lol:

After running the release for the last week I have notice that the locale file is missing and causes an error in the log file for each ssh login.

A quick fix is needed, after logging into the root account.

Code: Select all

touch /etc/default/locale

This file did not exist in the older version either you had to manually add it yourself.
The question is how good it is to have it as an empty file. It is supposed to have the default locale to use in it hence the name.

Mark, I fully understnad your concern. To clarify for others, the 2.4-RC1 release does solve these issues, but I assume you are waiting for the stable release.

The releases for B3 in between are all being part of the 2.4 stable release, it's just pre-releases to fix issues before the major release. The corresponding "in-between-release" thing for B2 is actually this 2.4-RC1 release, which fixes the wifi issue but since this is such a major change, it also brought along some new bugs, which is why we had to release it as a RC, not stable.

Rest assured we are working with the stable 2.4 on high proiority. I'll keep you posted.

All seems to have gone almost OK here, but the sources.list I have ended up with seems to be the old sources list - which means that apt-get commands can't find sources etc. Does anybody have / is able to point me to a sources.list that works with this incarnation of B2?

admin/admin is the default passwork, but requires you to be on LAN. Make sure you are not on a laptop with 3G or so, and unintentionally connecting through WAN.

@Johannes/Excito,
In case you haven't already caught this bug; I can't seem to boot into rescue mode (i.e. DO_INSTALL=0) from a 2.4-RC1 USB stick. The LED just continuously blinks at ~2Hz. Afraid I can't do much debugging on it as I don't have a serial connection into my B2.
