Tor (short for The onion router) is a system intended to enable online anonymity. Tor client software routes Internet traffic through a worldwide volunteer network of servers in order to conceal a user's location or usage from anyone conducting network surveillance or traffic analysis. Using Tor makes it more difficult to trace Internet activity, including "visits to Web sites, online posts, instant messages and other communication forms", back to the user[5] and is intended to protect users' personal freedom, privacy, and ability to conduct confidential business by keeping their internet activities from being monitored.

Check admin -> network -> Tor!

oh and wtf is this "Remote access through other router" option?. That just has to be the most cryptic description ever. What is this thing? Why is it on by default?
Upnp
Yes, this is upnp, so that when enabled, it tries to open up port 80 in your main router, to simplify setup to get remote access for non-techy users.

Why then not at least put (uPNP) on there? The current statement isn't just confusing, it's nonsense! It suggests tunnels or NAT or whatever. I at least did not knwo UPNP required a multi-stage access that required at least two routers. Well, you learn something every day!

@Ubi, I think what Johannes meant is that, if your b3 is behind another router it can try to use upnp to open port 80 on the first router so you can get external access to the B3. Not sure what you mean about the multi-stage access but I think you might have misunderstood it's purpose.

Hi,

Since the update I am getting messages like this:

/etc/cron.daily/logrotate:
error: error running non-shared postrotate script for /var/log/forked-daapd.log of '/var/log/forked-daapd.log '
run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/logrotate exited with return code 1

Any help?

Thanks

Hi again.

I have solved my issue with the 2.4 upgrade, where forked-daapd halted the process.
This was solved by adding the group nobody (nobody:x:65534) followed by the "apt-get dist-upgrade".

What you will have to do is to upgrade manually from the command line, using following instructions:

Code: Select all

DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get update
DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get dist-upgrade

Hi,

When I trie this, i get the following message:

Hello Winston,

I see you are trying to upgrade against a snapshot (Assuming you have changed to the snapshop in the post), try issuing the command "change_distribution elvin" and try again.

Thanks for confirming that there is in fact a new kernel. Can anyone please where / when the kernel source for this version will be available? For now I'll have to skip the update, how promising the improvements may seem.
The new kernel source is directly available now as a debian source package, i.e. if you enables sources in your apt-sources (change_distribution -s elvin && apt-get update), then you can issue "apt-get source bubba3-kernel" for the sources.

Yes, that's the conclusion I came to as well after some more searching. Sorry for not stating it here.

Anyways, the only thing I ever used mt-daapd's web interface for was to click "force scan" (or whatever the name of the button was) because the scanner was so crappy. forked-daapd doesn't seem to need this, when I change stuff in my tags now it's changed in forked-daapd immediately. So there clearly is no need for any web interface any longer :D

And is it to the file "/etc/apt/sources.list.d/excito.list" that I should add "deb-src http://b3.update.excito.org elvin main" or is there a better, more correct, place?

Is there a reason for not having it in there from the start?

Best Regards,
