Encryption of the user partition on Bubba|TWO?

Post by trencarbe »

Hi,

Due to it's small form factor, I'm afraid that is can be an easy target for burglars to snatch the Bubba|TWO server and then scan though my documents/email/photos at their place...

Not that I have anything to hide, but just to make it more difficult for the burglars:
Is there any way to cipher to user partition area, so it's unreadable when using Bubba|TWO's hard drive as an external drive to an computer with Linux/Windows/OSX?

As the Bubba is a Linux server there are plenty of options ant others with more experience will explain below...

However, the new version does have a great feature that I requested a while back - a lock point that will allow a laptop lock to be used to chain it to a desk/floor/wall etc.

There are numerous ways to enable encryption of a file system, though the biggest problem would be where to store the key.

A list of possible ways can be found at http://www.debianadmin.com/filesystem-e ... linux.html, though we haven't made any tries with any of them.
