Ogg Vorbis on Bubba

Post by PeterTuson »

All my music is encoded in Ogg Vorbis format.

Mediatomb is able to serve this but wasn't configured properly in the original Bubba installation. I would have needed to recompile Mediatomb to enable Ogg Vorbis properly.Essentially the problem was that while Mediatomb scanned the music directory properly and put them in the PC Directory it wasn't able to read the metadata and thus sort the music within the Audio directory.

On advice from excito, I upgraded the Bubba installation to 'lenny'.

I had to edit the Mediatomb configuration to get it to configure Ogg Vorbis files properly, with <map from="ogg" to="audio/ogg"/> in the /etc/mediatomb/config.xml file.

I also had to edit the Firefly configuration at /etc/mt-daapd.conf to get it to pass on Ogg Vorbis files with
never_transcode = ogg in the optional never trancode section.

I can now successfully serve audio to networked players such as laptops and mobile phones.
