Cannot Access Bubba 404 Error

Post by scoobynz »

Repost in correct forum

Hello,

I am having ongoing problems with my Bubba - I have installed the software to it from scratch 3 times in two weeks now :o(

I am trying to install mldonkey onto the bubba and was very close. I installed as per this link http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?t ... t=mldonkey successfully and I successfully started the core. I then killed the process (kill PID of mlnet) and edited the downloads.ini file (using nano). Now not only will the mldonkey process not start but more disturbing is that I cannot access the bubba at all - I get a 404 Not Found Error

Not Found

The requested URL /admin was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) mod_fastcgi/2.4.2 PHP/5.2.0-8+etch11 mod_ssl/2.2.3 OpenSSL/0.9.8c Server at 192.168.0.10 Port 80

Also of note is that I can no longer access the file system of my bubba through my GUI in Ubuntu. When I click on Network and then BUBBA I see the 2 x folders home and storage but clicking on them brings up a message;
Could not display "smb://bubba/home/".
There is no application installed for this file type

What could have gone wrong, that editing 1 x text file could do this to the whole system?

I have attached my error log, maybe someone who is a bit more savvy than me can make sense of this.

(note from reading other forums I confirm that I cannot connect to /web-admin either).

Please don't do that anymore. Re-installing the whole system is a shot in the dark, and you lose all your data. Solve the problem instead. If you really lose connection to the bubba, try a "reboot" (not a re-install) from a stick. But:
but more disturbing is that I cannot access the bubba at all - I get a 404 Not Found Error

This shows you did successfully access the Bubba -- it is a message from Apache 2.2.3 running on the Bubba. You should be able to connect to the bubba through a shell by means of ssh:

ssh <username>@192.168.0.10

Then become root & fix the problem. It looks like a problem with the "virtual host" configuration of apache2.

Thank-you for the response - agreed reinstalling software from scratch is not the solution.

Thanks for the direction pointer, I have been doing a bit of investigating but still do not have the solution. Due to the error message regarding the /htdocs I thought that the DocumentRoot might be the issue. This is the output from my default file at etc/apache2/sites-available.

<Directory /var/www/>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
allow from all
# This directive allows us to have apache2's default start page
# in /apache2-default/, but still have / go to the right place
RedirectMatch ^/$ /apache2-default/
</Directory>

ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/lib/cgi-bin/
<Directory "/usr/lib/cgi-bin">
AllowOverride None
Options ExecCGI -MultiViews +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error.log

# Possible values include: debug, info, notice, warn, error, crit,
# alert, emerg.
LogLevel warn

CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access.log combined
ServerSignature On

Alias /doc/ "/usr/share/doc/"
<Directory "/usr/share/doc/">
Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
Order deny,allow
Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ::1/128
</Directory>

</VirtualHost>

I note that this lists the directoy www/var - which should be correct right? I am in over my head here, so assistance would be greatly appreciated.

sites-available contains all "available" sites, though it's not certain they are activated at all in the current configuration at an host, for enabled sites, you must inspect the directory "sites-enabled" under /etc/apache2; Per default we deactivate the "default" configuration, and only runs the "bubba" configuration, which is installed and configured by the "bubba-frontend" package.

In the default "bubba" configuration, the main web root is /home/web; /var/ww exists only as an symbolic link to this location (mainly for backward compatibility/purposes). Also, based on the configurations found in /etc/apache2/conf.d, the /admin location points to /usr/share/web-admin/admin, /manual points to /usr/share/web-admin/manual,and /pim point to /usr/share/horde3

If you don't have the file /etc/apache2sites-enabled/bubba it's possible that you by mistake uninstalled the bubba-frontend package; if so, try to reinstall it as root using following command:

Code: Select all

apt-get install bubba-frontend
If this fails, please post the full output of your attempts so we can investigate further what's the problem (but hopefully it will just work directly).

Brilliant!

I had obviously (unwittingly) uninstalled the bubba frontend. Reinstalling has fixed.

Many thanks
