Connecting to Tracker ... torrents .

Post by Strider »

Hi,

I would like to know if anyone is experiencing the same as in Bubba ...

I noticed some problems on some of the main public trackers, namely those Information Age Heroes at The Pirate Bay (There! I say it! :)
the strange thing is that from my own Lan (meaning same IP outside) I get a lot of torrents with the message connecting to tracker.
And they get stuck there.

From Ktorrent on my OpenSuSE box things go smoothly ...
What is happening ??
Any idea?

Hello

Got some problems too with the torrents.
when downloading a few (most legal stuff) and i cancel one at 100% i have a 50% chance
that i get a PHP error line..... (forget to write it down).

solving the problem is simple:
1)stop the service
2) remove the torrents folder and create a new one
3) start the service

add the missing downloads and start with them at 0%..

Strider,

Is this with the latest firmware, 1.2.0? Are you running the downloader with its ports open?

Hello Tor,

The first version: as i bought it, had this problem when adding a "bad" torrent.
Version 1.2.0 has it sometimes spontanious but often when deleting a download
that has the 100% status.

I experience the same as Rene (reasonable chance of PHP error on 100% cancel, introduced with 1.2.0) and Strider (poor torrent download performance, with any Bubba2 SW version so far).

Hi,

The error when cancel complete downloads seems like a bug might have slipped through in the last upgrade :( We will have to investigate this further.

Regarding performance, Bubba should be able to do torrent downloads at a speed ~1-1.5MB/s if not loaded with other heavy work.

This however depends on Bubba getting in contact with enough of other peers to exchange data with. To ensure this a range of ports must be publicly accessible, 10000-14000. If Bubba is used in router mode this is easily done from the web admin. Log in as admin, click Network, Firewall check the " Open ports for torrent downloader" and klick update.

Hi Tor,
Thanks for the hint, I will open the ports on my ADSL modem.
Looking forward to the PHP error fix. :D

Hi Tor,

My apologies for the late reply ... you guys have a great product and deserve a good feedback.
Let me see my version ...

booting .... booting ...

Ok, here it is ...
Nope, my version is not 1.2 ... I still did not make the upgrade.
I use 1.1.4

Hi,

My problem was even more strange them what I have said before.

The torrents where stopped with the connecting to tracker.

After my previous post I made the up-grade to version 1.2.0.

On the first boot I placed torrent files in the torrents directory of previously downloaded but incomplete (due to the connecting to Traker problem) torrents.
They all worked but the listing on the download form where very strange, every single one of those files appeared listed twice ....

They all finished with no problem, some were even difficult to cancel. But apparently now everything is ok.
