How to install MiniDLNA on Bubba 2 with a mac

Post by metelmann »

I need to install MiniDLNA on my Bubba2 so I am able to view my movies on the server on my Sony Blu-ray player. I have no experience in installing Linux programs and have difficulties to make the install from my mac.

I also want to turn the Bubba into a Itunes server for my music is that possibly?

Anyone who has an idea what I can do?

I did wonder how that sentence scored on Johannes' "Ubi-style response" scale... I guess about a 5. :D

I agree. You are being cruel to a first-time poster...

Metelmann:
What Ubi is saying in his crude way (8.5 on the scale) is that you could have searched for the answer yourself.

As far as I know (I don't use Sony or Apple devices out of principle, so I have no personal experience), the answer is this:
miniDLNA will be supported in a future release of the B3 OS. Hopefully the same thing will later also be available for the Bubba2.
To use your iTunes with Bubba2, you should only have to put your music collection in the Bubba2 storage/music directory and enable the DAAP streaming in the Services settings in your Bubba2 (log in as admin in the web interface). If you have thousands of songs, you might have to allow it a few hours to scan the whole thing.

This is speaking from minimal experience of what you are after.
If others have better advice, please let Paul know.

Cheers,

I believe it is in Excitos repositories these days (For B3 anyways, but probably for Bubba2 aswell:

Code: Select all

apt-get install minidlna
should do the trick if that's the case
