B3: Software Reinstall
B3: Software Reinstall
Hello,
Yesterday I was enough idiot to "CHMOD -R 777 /"
Yes. I CHMODed the root.
Then I lost access to FTP, SCP and SSH, with only the web interface working fine.
Today I reinstalled the B3 OS from an USB stick.
After the reinstallation, the above problems are the same, but now I can't open the admin panel.
My website's users will kill me.
Please help me, as I will leave Bucharest in less than three days.

Re: B3: Software Reinstall
I am unsure how you could have killed everything using only chmod 777 /
but can't you access http://b3.local ?
maybe a good idea would be to retry the re-installation from USB

He has already reinstalled the system but he has still problemsEek wrote:I am unsure how you could have killed everything using only chmod 777 /

The problem is that a lot of demons does sanity checking and only allow users that has secure permissions to enter the system. SSH is one such demon it checks both the home account and some key files for ssh in the home account.romtoc wrote:Hello,

My website's users will kill me.
So the problem now is most likely the permission on the home accounts since I guess you did keep the home accounts when you did the reinstall. I am afraid that there is no easy way to get the permission back in a good state for the home accounts.

Look, I know I'm a beginner, but is there any way to do a full reinstall of the system?
I mean, without keeping files/user accounts or anything.
Re: B3: Software Reinstall
I did take a quick look at the configuration file for the B3 usb install image and it does default to a total reinstall so unless you did change the configuration file called bubba.cfg in the root of the usb it should have done a total reinstall of the system. I would guess that it did not reinstall at all. It can be quite problematic to get the B3 to install from an USB stick. It is quite picky with how the USB stick is configured. If you search the forum you should find a lot of topic on this.

Hello,
I am sorry for the problems I caused you (time loss).
I fixed it using another USB stick.
Thanks for your help.
