Problem updating B3

Post by mprs » 31 Jul 2011, 13:55

Hi,

I tried to update my B3 the other day, but something went wrong and there now is a lot of failures in the interface. I was then trying to update again, but now it says: "Failures found in package (dpkg) database, unable to continue with upgrade." - "iF bubba-igd 0.7 Bubba igd helper daemon iF cron 3.0pl1-116 process scheduling daemon iF cups 1.4.4-7 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server iF dbus 1.2.24-4+squeeze1 simple interprocess messaging system iF dovecot-common 1:1.2.15-7 secure mail server that supports mbox and maildir mailboxes iF filetransferdaemon 0.50.26 File Transfer Daemon iF ifplugd 0.28-18 configuration daemon for ethernet devices iF initscripts 2.88dsf-13.1 scripts for initializing and shutting down the system iF minidlna 1.0.19-0ex3 lightweight DLNA/UPnP-AV server targeted at embedded systems iF mysql-server-5.1 5.1.49-3 MySQL database server binaries and system database setup iF openssh-server 1:5.5p1-6 secure shell (SSH) server, for secure access from remote machines iF rsyslog 4.6.4-2 enhanced multi-threaded syslogd iF samba 2:3.5.6~dfsg-3squeeze4 SMB/CIFS file, print, and login server for Unix iF x11-common 1:7.5+8 X Window System (X.Org) infrastructure"

What to do?

Log into your Bubba using a SSH terminal (like Putty)

Log in as a user with SSH access (set under administration on the Bubba administration page)
become root by typing

Code: Select all

SU
(password is excito)

next follow the steps as indicated by Johannes:

Code: Select all

change_distribution elvin
apt-get -c /etc/apt/bubba-apt.conf -y update
apt-get -c /etc/apt/bubba-apt.conf -y dist-upgrade

Hi Martin,

This is our first report of an upgrade failure for the new release, so we would love to get the opportunity to check out what has went wrong with your upgrade. If you allow us, please email support@excito.com with the login information for a temporary user our developer can use (don't forget to check the shell access when creating the user). This and your easyfind-name will allow us to investigate and fix your problem.

Thanks!

I get the same error message after I update (including hotfix). What's the solution for the problem?

Error:
Failures found in package (dpkg) database, unable to continue with upgrade.
iF dbus 1.2.24-4+squeeze1 simple interprocess messaging system
iF dovecot-common 1:1.2.15-7 secure mail server that supports mbox and maildir mailboxes
iF libsane 1.0.21-9 API library for scanners
iF python-dbus 0.83.1-1 simple interprocess messaging system (Python interface)

Can you recall if the hotfix was executed when you tried to upgrade (Should have said "Applying Hotfix 2.3")? The hotfix was release for the exact issue at hand.

I'm sorry, but i cannot recall that.

I started the update service with the hotfix's, they all went well. There were a lot. I think I saw the 2.3 hotfix in the same update session.

I solved the problem with 2 following command that i found on the forum:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

Now everything is working great again.
