B3 upload problem

I have recently bought a B3. I have tried to upload music files to the home/storage/music and it worked OK. But after activating the Squeezecenter I am not able to upload any more files. The file manager shows a counter at the corner of the windo that counts to 100% then "Initializing" and after a while it aborts with the error message "Failed to upload file(s), aborting."

I have tried to upload both as user and as admin with the same result. I have also turned of the squeezecenter. I have also done a software update of the B3. Nothing seems to help.

I am using Google Chrome. I switched to Firefox, but that didn´t solve the problem...

This sounds strange. To where do you upload files? What kind of files (how large)? Do you experience any other issues with B3 or is this the only one?
WHat software version are you on?

I started with uploading files to home/<username>/private and also to home/storage/music and it worked correctly. I have afterwards tried the same catalogues, but it didn´t work anymore.

I am using software 2.3 on the B3.

My Squeezebox finds the Squeezeserver on the B3, but not any files.

I have uploaded some pictures. The upload worked correctly at first, but when I tried to view the photos in the album the B3 indicated only "Working" on the images.

This sounds very strange. I suggest you email us (support@excito.com) with a user name so we can login (both web and ssh) and see what's wrong. Don't forget to send your easyfind name so we can find you. Thanks.

OK. WILCO!

I have as a last test reformatted my B3 and installed a new system software via USB. But, still the same problem! Something seem to be interfering the communication between my computer and the B3. But why did it work to start with?

What OS are you using when uploading? Windows 7 is hell trying to make it communicate with non-windows 7 machines sometimes. It may be that a windows update ruined your communications

Sorry, could not resist this bit of foolishness:
Windows 7 is hell

Well, Windows 7 of course! :-)

When I look into the Windows update logs I see two updates that might cause problem.

Update for Windows Defender KB915597 definition 1.109.1136.0 and 1.109.869.0. They have both been installed very recently.

I therefore turned Windows Defender Off (I actually thought it already was Off since i use F-Secure), but it didn´t cure my problem. I then turned F-secure Off, but that was not the solution either...

When I try to think about what I did after starting up the B3 I am starting to suspect that something is wrong in the 2.3 update. I think I uploaded the first test-files before I updated the B3 to 2.3. I am however not sure which status the B3 software was in when i bought it. When I reformatted the B3 the USB image was 2.3.

The SAMBA logs indicates that something is wrong.

Thank You! It looks very promising. I will check to see if I get it to work. If not I will get a new B3 on Wednesday. Hopefully with something older than the 2.3 software. If uploading works in that configuration (which I suspect) and not after I upgrade to 2.3 then Excito have something to work on.

P.S: I wasn´t allowed to quote the link above...new user.. :-(

Well I tried he suggested solution. Haven´t been using Unix for many years, but I think I did was was suggested.

I downloaded PuTTY and used it to logg in on the B3. Switched to "su". Then I edited the file /etc/samba/smb.conf. The line under [global] saying "interfaces=br0" I changed to "interfaces=192.168.10.1/255.255.255.0" as suggested.

I restarted samba with "service samba restart". I tried to upload a file, but no success.

I then restarted the B3. I tried again to upload a file, but no success.

The samba log files however changed.

Tomorrow I will hopefully receive a new B3. It will be interesting to see what software it runs and if anything changes after I update to version 2.3.
