Network problem with my B3-wifi and a new switch?

Post by NisseJ » 02 Oct 2011, 13:22

Hello,

I have an 8 Port HP switch that works really good as long as my B3 isn´t connected to it via the lanport. Then the port on the B3 turns off and ethernet does´nt work. In the log it says like this:

It doesn´t work if i reboot the B3 or change the speed on the switch, so i guess there is something that has with the br0 /eth1

The B3 works the same second as i put it into my Airport Extreme, but i want to stop using that. :) If there is some tips or where i should try to find the solution i would be really happy.

When i run

Code: Select all

mii-tool -R eth1
then the lights on the port turns on but the same moment i try to get some more speed than the 10 half duplex i get, it blanks out...

Code: Select all

root@b3:~# ethtool eth1
Settings for eth1:
Supported ports: [ TP MII ]
	Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
	                        100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
	                        1000baseT/Full
	Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
	Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
	                        100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
	                        1000baseT/Full
	Advertised pause frame use: No
	Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
	Speed: 10Mb/s
	Duplex: Half
	Port: MII
	PHYAD: 24
	Transceiver: external
	Auto-negotiation: on
	Link detected: no
I have tried a lot of different network cables etc. Is there anyway to reset the network card?

The odd thing is that my B2 can get 1000baseT/Full on the same switch but not my B3 with exact the same cable, and the same port...

Well, i tried a 4th gigabit switch with a lot of cables, and i also tried to put the cable i have in my mac direct to the B3. Then the mac went from 1Gb/s to 100Mb/s. Maybe my motherboard / ethernet connection on the B3 is feeling a bit ill?

Is there anyone that has had any problems with the B3 going up to 1 Gbit/s on the lan?

We haven't seen such problems on B3 ever, so this sounds interesting. My guess is that you have a hardware problem (b3 motherboard?). It would be interesting to find out the cause, so contact support@excito.com if you wish to send your unit in for repair.
