Can't acces B3 webinterface neither with putty!!

Post by Puma »

Hello,

after a restart i cannot acces my bubba3 within LAN through web interface nor through putty (b3 not found)

I can see it from WAN via internet myownb3 but I cannot acces this way with admin.

Reboot again does not help.

Problem will be IPtables i think

Any help would be appreciated.

it is very unlikely that it is a problem with iptables.
how do you know which IP address to connect to? Is you have a LAN+WAN setup it suggests you use the B3 as a dhcp server, meaning you do actually get a response form it. My guess is you only tried 'b3' as a hostname and that fails. This usually means a problem win winbind. Try to find the IP address of the B3 (if you use it as a dhcp router its the gateway address you see after printing iptables in windows) and connect through that.

Ubi,

I made a lot of restarts (button behind bubba3) and I cannot connect.
IP adress is not working, my laptop cannot see any gateway.
putty is not working not IP adress and not "b3"

I think there is no DHCP server running. My wifi router says 0.0.0.0 and gets no IP adress.

I use my b3 as DHCP server normally.

Strange is that I can access it from the outside still. But I cannot get to admin page.

stop rebooting, it will not help you. This is not a windows machine!

Second, you are being to sparse and cryptic with information for me to be able to help you. If you say you have no gateway, it means the config on your laptop is messed up. But there also seems to be some magical other wifi router in your network , and you did not bother to explain the setup.

Finally, if you can access the machine via the WAN, why do you not do so and see what the IP settings are?

Hello,

Normal setup:
B3 function as router+firewall+server
My internet provider modem in WAN port (DHCP off inside modem)
Gigabit netgear switch 8 port on LAN port B3
Linksys WRT54G for WIFI (DHCP off inside WRT54G) connected to switch
Desktop connected to switch by cable
Printserver connected by cable to switch
Dune connected by cable to switch
Laptops connected via WIFI throug linksys (B3 wifi is not 100% working for me)
Proxy via Squid installed with squidguard worked perfectly

Normal this works perfect. B3 gives IP adresses away. (for 1,3 year until now)

Until I made a upgrade to 2.4 which went fine. (started wifi on B3 for a test period with one laptop)
After a week I made a restart throug web interface and connection was gone.

Strangely B3 boots normal, I can connect to B3 using internet outside via myownb3.com
Web interface only for users and not admin inlog so i cannot see LAN ip or do any settings.

Started to try to connect via ssh but putty cannot find it. not with host not with IP adress.
-Maybe b3 back to 192.168.10.1, so laptop IP set to this range, network scan , no b3 found
- tried my normal IP adres on bubba in same range... no bubba

- My WRT54G said 0.0.0.0 so gets no IP adres from DCHP on b3 cannot find it as well.... no laptop problem
- desktop same problem, tested everything I know.

Question:
- Can i see LAN IP via WAN connection?
- I have no serial access due to no board added .....yet ;-) but now i am thinking of it.....

- I can connect to b3 wifi but that's it.... get no IP adress from b3....so DHCP is not working I believe.

Hoping you have more information now.... :D

I am now making a rescue usb to try to get access (installer=0 )

Maybe you have other ideas?? otherwise I must install the whole thing again........not happy with that but seams no other option?

ps I have a bubba storage as raid 1 forgot to mention

Perhaps you can log in using SSH (Putty) from the WAN interface?
Did you try connecting to the LAN port directly (without the router?)

Hello,

With my bubb3 with storage RAID1 (created original with webinterface)

Can I use a rescue usb stick with

DO_INSTALL=0
FORMAT = 0
PARTITION = 0

and mount with: mount /dev/sda1 /mnt

Will the raid volume be found on storage or is it lost??

Or can I reinstall B3 with rescue stick
FORMAT = 0
PARTITION = 0

And recover raid from storage when installed new?

What is the best solution??

Ubi,

Please do not get upset.
I gave you lots of information.
I wrote i can log in via internet to WAN connection to B3.
Can log in see filemanager etc. but cannot log in as admin to do some reading/settings.

I'm sure you mean well, but your problem is that you make assumptions for which you have no evidence and discard checks and verifications without knowing their importance. This approach is not compatible with may way of addressing config problems, so I'm afraid I won't be able to add to this thread any further.

If you can get console access using the rescue system, and you can mount the storage volume, go to /home/admin and find the file .bubbacfg

Code: Select all

AllowRemote=no
default_lang=en
hotfix=yes
language=
network_profile=router
run_wizard=no
show_sideboard=1
Change the value in the first line to "yes" and reboot normally

Alternatively if you can just access the root partition, change the home directory location of user admin and create this .bubbacfg file in this directory (rights are set to 644) and the reboot.

Both methods should allow you to login to the web interface as user admin.
