duplicity - how is it scheduled?

Post by gonk »

Since my initial run of a backup job for all user data to a USB-HD has caused duplicity to be running for over 48 hours i came up with an idea to aler the LED color of B3 to green while backups are running.

I've been trying to locate how these backups are scheduled but found nothing in the crontabs nor anywhere else.

Please...
- how are Duplicity jobs scheduled?
- have you done something similar that you'd like to share?

By the way, for the 247 GB in the set of data to be backed up Duplicity has so far
... produced 47411 .difftar.gz files
... of a total size of 232 GB
... and used all resources available for quite a while but thanks for running it with nice-level 10. :)

Code: Select all

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
32046 root 30 10 76120 47m 1628 R 98.8 9.4 2603:58 duplicity

Yes, duplicity is sloooooooow. Not sure about how backups are scheduled though. Maybe with the @ command?

I hope that the incremental runs aren't anywhere close to as slow because then I'll move the folders to where I backup my PC out of the /home/myusername folder to another location and schedule rsync for those.

Hi,

the backups are scheduled via the file

/etc/cron.d/bubba-backup

which has the same layout as the standard crontab file.
