Backup B3 to DNS-323

Post by DerWaldmann »

Hi there,

I didn't find any topic in the search regarding this.
On my B3 there's no Bubba running as I think I don't need it. I only use the B3 as NAS.
By using the implemented backup option I've tried to backup e.g. the /video-Folder to my DNS-323 with the given option but it never did anything. As target I have ssh://"IP of the DNS"\"path of target folder".

Any clue out there?

Thanks a lot for feedback!

What do you mean that there is no Bubba running?

Did you check the log files? They are available in settings -> logs -> bubba-backup.log in the web admin.

(and, Isn't a little Bubba always running, in all of us? :) )

My guess was he turned off rhe bubba webadmin interface, but indeed the op is very cryptic en devoid of usable detail.

Yes, that would explain why the "implemented backup option" does nothing.

DerWaldmann, we need more information to be able to help. :)

Just curious, is that backslash really included in the target path? I would start replacing that with a forward slash.

Hi all,
sorry for my late reply and thanks for your awareness.
I just checked the manual again and compared with my GUI.
In the manual several option for a backup are listed. My GUI only shows up HiDrive and OtherB3 (SSH).
I'm running bubba 2.6.0.2 and when running the update everything stays like it is.
Any clue out there?

Thanks again...

The manual is outdated. The old backup application was replaced by rsync and the GUI frontend was updated accordingly. OtherB3 should be read as `a system offering the same capabilities as a B3`. Unless you have a HiDrive account, you should always choose that option. My guess is that more options were meant to be added at some point, but Excito never got around to doing so. From what I found, that Dlink apparatus of yours does have ssh and rsync and it it should therefore be possible to add it as a backup target through the B3 GUI. If it doesn't, just search the forum for `rsync` to find hints and tips to add the target using console (ssh session).
