Swapping B3 HDD for SSD - do I need brackets?

Post by Thoht »

My WD Caviar Green 1.0TB has been making screeching noises and I forgot to send it in. Now I assume it's too late so I figured I'd swap it with a Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB. I read the manual (p. 144) but it only mentions how to install a new HDD and not an SSD - do I need some sort of additional brackets to fasten the SSD in there?

Nope, no brackets needed. There are old B3 versions that lack the extra 2.5"-hole, but the chance that you are good is > 99%. read more here:

Mine did not have holes, i just stuck the disk in there without brackets. It's light and im not moving it often. Who cares if it can move about?
