Moderation

Post by DanielM »

Hi Excito.
I get the feeling that you people at Excito don't have time to do all the moderation needed. Wouldn't it be a good idea to start a thread where users can express their interest for being moderators and then Excito could pick 3-4 that they think could handle it? I think it would mean spam getting taken care of more quickly and off-topic threads being moved to correct places more quickly.

Go to "User Control Panel" and select user groups. There you find
"Moderators
Moderators group
This is an open group, members can apply to join. "
I havn't tested it, but it looks like it could work

so who's going to moderate the moderators?
The über-moderator, obviously :-)
There should be an additional checkbox "I want to rule the world (or at least other people), and this is a good place to practice".

Obviously people who apply should automatically be disqualified and the post should be appointed to the least willing individual on the forum.

I second that motion.
But now here's the problem: how do I now express my true desire to not ever get moderator status?
(which then reminds of the "I'm not the messiah"sketch from the Life of Brian)
...

You are not the messiah, you are a very naughty boy?
EDIT: Oh, sorry that was a reference from another film...
EDIT2: No, I was right, it is Life of Brian...

Bah, it is the privilage of the poster to change previous posts without notice, even if the results can be a bit cryptic.

Here is an exanple. This was a response to my very first post, wich I later deleted:

Ha. Told you! If I were a moderator, this thread would be a gonner: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?p=13028.

And that is not only because I don't like french.

edit: Oh. And my pushing of that button doesn't mean I want to be moderator. It means I think the level of moderation is too low right now and I feel I could take the responsibility to fix it. But there was no button with that text on...

Ooh, that is bad management.
You point out a problem and the response is "fix it yourself".

Isn't that what open source is all about? Not happy? Fix it yourself!

I'm happy now. I've got the extra buttons to kick ass when needed. 8)

But I still wonder when my name will grow green...
