Hi I recently found out about this product, and I must say it sounds like a sweet product
Before I purchase it I'd just like to know what the average transfer speed is to it, I mean from computer to NAS. I have a seagate blackarmor 220, which seems to have a reputation for being slow (8-10 MB/s at the most but usually never over 2MB/s). I'd like to know if I could expect the B3 to do better.

Re: B3 writing speeds?
First, let's make sure we're getting our bytes (B) and bits (b) right.
On a 100Mb/s LAN link the most you're going to get is 100/8 = 12.5 MB/s.
Transfers from my PC to my B3 over Samba are consistently about 7MB/s. This is much better than my old Bubba 2 which seemed to top out at about 3.5 MB/s.

Normally I'm getting writing speeds around 30-35MB/s and reading around 40-45MB/s using FTP

I'm guessing that's on gigabit LAN? I'm only using 100Mb.carl wrote:Normally I'm getting writing speeds around 30-35MB/s and reading around 40-45MB/s using FTP
