wifi problems using 5 Ghz

Post by Puma »

Hello,

I have upgraded my old laptop to be able to use 5 Ghz 802.11n mode.
got a intel 4965agn in my dell 6400 and it works for short times.

At startup it connects and says 300Mbps and file transfer is very good.

About 5 min later it slows down to about 2-4 Mbps and its not workable anymore.
if I restart my wifi radio inside dell laptop it works again well for about 5min.

When i look at the syslog then i get after 5 min.:

IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request

I tried a lot
added in hostapd.conf:
ap_max_inactivity=7200 (instead of 300 default)
skip_inactivity_poll=1
wmm_enabled=0

but nothing helps.

When I use 54mbps in g mode it works but to slow.

Any ideas? ...cause i am lost.... :(

Bubba3 settings:
Band: 5Ghz
mode: mixed mode 802.11n+802.11a
channel width: 40 Mhz (tried 20 as well)
encryption: WPA2

Version of hostapd is 0.72 , maybe new version will work?
Excito can we get version 2 of hostapd

Sorry, all I can say is that it usually works stable, we regularly use the 5 GHz in office. Does your laptop work better with other AP's? I suppose you checked for newer drivers for your intel card?

And yes, newer hostapd is on the todo-list, but other things come before, sorry..

Johannes,

Thanks for your reaction.
- yes i have latest intel drivers
- yes works fine on other AP's
- 54mbps works fine but i want N speed....;-)

Would be nice to get new hostapd in next update.....
If you need someone to test new hostapd ;-)

Thanks in advance.

+1 on that one. I really could make use of some new features in hostapd 1.0 (or whatever is the latest today).

edit: Oh, actually 2.0 is the latest since january. And I never got any response in http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f ... 63&p=20506 :roll:

I just tried to use 5GHz only but when I connect with my android phone it just gets disconnected, no error, no nothing. Changed to 2.4GHz and it works fine... but I want to use my B3 as a 5GHz accesspoint as a complement to my Telia Smart that only uses 2.4GHz (all neighbours have the same Telia Smart, so the 2.4GHz band is full.

How did you get the 5GHz work? Do I have to restart the B3 after changing to 5Ghz?
