I'm contemplating moving to the unstable tree to try to solve this problem - any experience from folk about just how unstable it is?
How about going back to the regular release if unstable doesn't help me?
Just how brave/foolhardy am I being, given that everything else is working fine at the moment?
Charles.

Its been mentioned a few times by people including Excito Admins and I've said it a couple of times as well, but if you are comfortable with fixing your box if it breaks, potentially rendering it unbootable and needing a re-install, then go ahead.

Personally I've found the modified kernel works fine, but YMMV.

No improvement after upgrading to 1.2.1, unfortunately.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but cold boot it, rather than a warm reboot.

Thanks - I had only done a warm reboot so it was worth a try. Sadly, there's no improvement after power-cycling either :(

I'm consistently dropping down to around 2 MB/s even after rebooting. I'm very close to removing bubba from my setup. I hope that there is some fix coming down the pipe. At this speed, it is almost unusable.

I'm running kernel 2.6.30.1 which is definately showing a much improved performance on network throughput and none of my clients are reporting any issues with performance and all are on 1.2.1.

I have same problem.
Latest update is in and only one LED is blinking, HP´s gigabit switch is saying that bubba is on gigabit connection but it is intolerably slow :(

So how to fix this?
Step by step guide please, as I have almost no experience at all on tux systems.

Hi BullDog,

If you have virtually no SysAdmin experience on Linux, I would strongly recommend waiting and being patient. I've been running on the 2.6.30.1 kernel from the unstable repo for quite a while with no side effects and performance is much improved, so that my sons can play ther MMORPG's with no complaints, while I'm working and my wife is surfing or shopping or whatever it is she does online :)

Excito will release an updated kernel as soon as it fits into their release schedules.

Yep, as has been said a few times, the kernel in the unstable repo is much improved, but its your risk if you want to install it.

Give Excito some time and be a little patient :) They will release a new patch as soon as they are able to. None of us know what dependencies for other updates they are working on
