Can yoy provide us how Bubba is connected?
Router/firewall, just on the LAN etc.

Can you reach it by ip-address? I.e. http://192.168.10.1 ?

On windows, typing \\bubba in the explorer will take you to the windows filesharing.

Typing http://bubba will take you to the webserver on bubba.

Bubba is sending its name to your router when requesting an IP, so if your router does not support name-lookup based on its dhcp-lease talbe you will most likely not be albe to reach it by http://bubba, but should be able to reach the file shares using \\bubba (as this protocol relies on windows name-lookup and not DNS).

Also if you are using a static IP on bubba in your LAN (when connected to a router), no name will be sent to your router and it will have not possiblity to resolve the name.

I have the same problem, old bubba is visible on the network , bubba2 no.
I have 4 Win pc ( Xp sp3 and Vista 64 ) all have the same problem, both Bubba get the IP form the router ( zyxel 35) but Bubba2 is not in the lan, I can see the mediatomb service, but not the shared or the bubba2 icon on network, I also can reach him with http://bubba2.
This is quite strange both bubba have the same setting, at list from what I can see on the web interface.
Thanks .

Can you reach it by \\bubba2?

Or what do you mean by "not visable on the network"?

hi PA thanks for the quick reply.

yes I can reach with http:\\bubba2
but if you open the network you will not find a icon for him, you can see only the mediatomb service icon, so you can't access the shared folder on the bubba2.

But I have no problem on the old bubba, all services are present on the network browser , very strange at list for me.

what I mean is to type "\\bubb2" in an explorer window, not using "http" infront.

Sounds like samba is not running...

Have you tried restarting your bubba?
Or if you are familiar with the command line, log in using ssh and then as root run

Code: Select all

/etc/init.d/samba restart
