how to select .mp3 files for loading into fireplay?

Post by zander »

hi,

i have mostly .ogg files on my bubba and would like to play only those. but i also have allot of .mp3 files too.

somehow fireplay only detects and loads files it cannot play (not .mp3 files).

is there a way for me to configure fireplay to only look say at my user's music directory instead of the one in /storage/Music?

or otherwise play the .ogg files in a browser?

thank you.

Hi zender,

You can edit the file /etc/forked-daapd.conf to tell it what directory to scan.
Unfortunately Fireplay only seems to be able to play .mp3 files.

You will notice transcoding options in the conf file I mentioned above, but you will have to install codecs to convert to mp3 on the fly with ffmpeg. Debian does not make such things easy, and the CPU in your Bubba is suited for better things than transcoding music on the fly.

Why not just transcode your music to mp3 on a PC with the processing power to do so, and while you are at it, set all the ID tags etc. before uploading it to your music library on the B3?

Best regards,
