B2 as weather station
I'm thinking of buying a weather station with USB-connection and hooking it up with my B2 to serve current weather updates on a webpage. (And perhaps also a webcam for showing a picture of the current weather situation.) Has anyone tried this with a B2? Any suggestions for suitable weather stations?...

Re: Can I get some help on installing java?
I don't think using the rpm file is a good idea. I just downloaded the tgz file, unpacked it and put it in a suitable place in the path. The only dependency I remember having to install was libstdc++5, and I simply installed it using What is a suitable place? I moved the ibm-java-ppc-60 folder to /...

Dear Johannes, I can confirm that Peter's solution (using the $HOME instead of the /tmp directory) works for me as well; even with a sleep of 5 seconds!!! It appears that Linux deals with the /tmp directory in a different way than it does with other directories. Please take notice of that when tryi...

Problem getting NFS server running
I followed the guide from this thread (using etch instead of sarge) to set up a NFS server on my Bubba two, but I can't get it to run. Anyone who can help me out? bubba:/home# /etc/init.d/portmap restart Stopping portmap daemon.... Starting portmap daemon.... bubba:/home# /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-serv...

Bubba access from Kubuntu via NFS
I've followed the NFS-guide and I (think I) have the NFS-server running. I've also installed the nfs-client on my desktop Kubuntu and tries to mount some directories, but sudo mount -t nfs bubba:/home/the_user /home/the_user/Bubba only results in mount.nfs: mount to NFS server 'rpcbind' failed: RPC ...

External drive spindown sometimes loses WAN connection
I have a weird problem. I have an eSATA drive connected to my Bubba|Two (and the /home partition on the external drive as explained in an earlier post). I have noticed that I sometimes can't access the internet. (This includes pinging from Bubba by ssh connection). I also noticed that the external d...

Talking to myself here, but hopefully someone else might benefit from it. :D I found this excellent beginners guide to LVM . Here's what I did: First a warning: Make sure you have everything backed up someplace else. A typo or other unexpected events can rend the Bubba unbootable and you have to rei...

WAN-LAN speed
I just tried my 28/1 ADSL connection with Bredbandskollen http://www.bredbandskollen.se/ - click on "Starta mätning" I get 19.1 Mbit downstream and 0.81 Mbit upstream both when I connect my computer directly to the modem and when connecting through Bubba|Two. I don't think there should be...

I don't know if it's overkill, but a possible answer lies in the /dev/mapper which I have found out to be Logical Volume Management. As I understand it the home-folder is a LVM that resides in sda2. Is it possible to create three LVMs in sda2 for admin, storage, and web respectively and then just mo...
