B2 - php - curl not working - libcurl3 library too old
Hi, I have a B2. It is still running Etch. I never got around to upgrading it. I'm trying to get the speedtest.php script to work. It uses curl to gather data on network throughput. Unfortunately, it looks like my Etch deployment has a version of libcurl3 that is too old. bubba:/home/jacob/speedtest...

Re: B2 Software update - Excito's plans
Yes, we have a beta released with a few known issues, and will release the final release candidate this week. Look here . Thank you! I look forward to the final release. Sadly I cannot help with testing the beta, since life is too busy. I'm not much of a linux hobbyist (I spent most of last weekend...

Re: B2 CUPS, Print from Windows
Cheeseboy answered my question. All I need to do is find the right drivers. It's just a little tricky since the WIndows plug-n-play cannot detect the type of printer. I'll just get it from the manufacturer's website. Thanks! Update: It is all working great! I'm really impressed that Bubba2 made it s...

B2 CUPS, Print from Windows
Hello, I have plugged in my printer (Brother MFC-8440) via USB to my Bubba2. I have successfully configured CUPS so that I can print a test page. I'd like to print to this from a Windows XP box and a Windows 7 box on my LAN. From what I've read, there is more configuration I need to do. But I can't ...

Warm seat for small cat
Seriously. I have a 7 lb. Siamese cat (relatively small kitty). She likes to sit on my Bubba Two. It is just the right temperature to warm her little feet.

Re: Installed new router on LAN, but cannot find it
No luck so far. It seems like it should be possible to plug my PC directly into the WAN port of the router and access the router's admin page. But I haven't been able to get it to work. For now the Bubba/router LAN is back to functional and I'll give up on accessing the router's admin page. I was in...

Installed new router on LAN, but cannot find it
My question is not really about Bubba II itself, but about my new LAN/WLAN router. I'm asking here because I know there are some very knowledgeable and friendly people who might have an idea about this. Also the router documentation and website offers no advice to people who configure the router the...

Re: User password incorrect for samba but correct for SSH
No, actually I was able to change my password by running smbpasswd as root (sudo). It seems to be cooperating with me now.
Thanks for your help.

Re: User password incorrect for samba but correct for SSH
I'm running the net use command with the password on the command line (represented by stars, see above). The user name of my bubba account is not the same name as my WinXP account. I tried smbpasswd and got this: scott@bubba:~$ smbpasswd Old SMB password: New SMB password: Retype new SMB password: E...

User password incorrect for samba but correct for SSH
Hi gang, It's a strange problem with my primary bubba user. I want to access my home directory from my WinXP PC. >net use Z: \\bubba\home ******** /user:excito\scott Response: System error 86 has occurred. The specified network password is not correct. However I can open a SSH session (client is PuT...

Thank you for your efforts. It works! Replacing "sleep 5" with the loop enables it to run correctly with my Cruzer memory stick.

Re: Automatic backup, triggered by connecting device
Judging by the log, it's not the device being detected several times but the backup script being called several times. Could it be that your udev rule (the one in /etc/udev/rules.d) is too general? In this case the script might be called before the device node exist. Show us the rule. SUBSYSTEMS==&...

Re: Automatic backup, triggered by connecting device
This is a bit of a shot in the dark but have a look in syslog and see if it's detecting your drive being connected several times. See my post here for an explanation: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2103#p9964 Mr. Random might be on to something. This is what syslog says when I hav...
