Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Long story short, the driver won't compile. The method Gordon provided was a step into right direction, although only the package from backports has the proper file. Even then, the compilation fails. So I started researching this from ground up again, and I came onto this little gem: LD_PRELOAD=/usr...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Ubi, if anyone's insulting anyone, it's you insulting me by constantly assuming my ill-will and not reading posts of other people. Even though you wrote multiple posts in this topic, not a single one was meaning to help me; instead you are suggesting over and over again that I'm lazy/stupid/unkind. ...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
All right - almost there, copy old config, make oldconfig, make prepare - but even in the source, there is no linux/videodev.h header, necessary for the driver to get compiled. I've found two packets with this file: linux-headers-2.6.32-5-common: /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-common/include/linux/...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
One more question: I see that it's downloading 2.6.39.4-13, but the stock kernel is -11. Do I need to recompile kernel as well?

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Apparently I'm having really stupid issue here :-) When I do 'apt-get source bubba3-kernel', I get "Unable to find a source package for linux' error message. As I understand, that means that when apt-get tries to install 'bubba3-kernel' source, it first tries to install 'linux' source packet, b...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Oh-kay. Methinks I need another push. I updated both /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/excito.list with deb-src stanzas: root@b3:/etc/apt# cat /etc/apt/sources.list # The debian squeeze repository containing unsupported packages that can be used. deb http://ftp.se.debian.org/debian squeeze main # T...

Re: B3 RAID status problem
Don't worry about your B3, I remember I also failed to install B3 on first try. I'm trying to remember what I did to fix it, I think I just used another USB drive.

Re: IPTABLES being overwritten
ezduzit, I think you're doing it the wrong way (or I misunderstood something). For reference: in my config, eth0 is running dhcp-client, and eth1 dhcp server. I am always adding iptables rules to live config first, so in case I mess something up I can always just reload the box. After checking that ...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Hi Gordon, many thanks for you taking time to check on this issue, and giving me a direction. So I thought I need just the kernel headers for the driver compilation, and so I installed 'bubba3-kernel-headers' package. What you're saying is that I need to d/l 2.6.39.4-11 kernel source, apply bubba-sp...

Re: Webcam driver compilation on B3
Doesn't it ever happen to you to encounter a problem that seems quite trivial for a person with specific knowledge, but might be a bit hard for you solve? Do you know how to perfectly hammer forge a knife? I don't, but I know people for who it would be very easy. I can start to learn, but without he...
