Re: Using google's smtp server
The reason is my server was hacked several years ago and was used for spam e-mail. Since then I'm a bit afraid of having my own smtp server running. Might need to let go of that fear

Re: Using google's smtp server
Thanks! I followed that guide, but the result is not what I wanted :) It results in an e-mail that is sent from my gmail address. I want it to be like this: Sender: My bubba user (myname@mydomain.org) What happens is: My bubba user (mygmailuser@gmail.com) And if I hit reply on the e-mail it goes to ...

Using google's smtp server
Hi! I am trying to get my bubba to relay emails through gmail's smtp server. I try to do this through the web admin -> Mail -> Server settings, and changing the Outgoing email server. It seems that what happens is what's described in this how to: http://ubuntulinux.co.in/blog/ubuntu/set-up-postfix-f...

Re: Network stopped working on B2
I am sorry for confusing you with the wrong words.
And to confuse you even more: Now everything works. I have no idea why. Twentieth reboot or so did the trick . Bubba shows up everywhere. E-mail come through, me be a happy camper.
Thanks all for your enthusiasm and help.

Re: Network stopped working on B2
Sorry I was a bit unclear there. I tried to send an email to my bubba from gmail, so I haven't seen the logs there. But my mail.log shows nothing of it. Very strange. And I haven't gotten any bounce e-mail to my gmail. Anyhow. The big issue is that I still can't connect to the bubba over my network....

Re: Network stopped working on B2
OK. Some things work, some don't. I have a reachable web server. But no e-mails get through. No error messages on either side. Seems to work sending to it, and it seems to work getting the e-mails through imap, but no e-mails come through. It does not show up as a share in Finder on my mac, and I ca...

Re: Network stopped working on B2
IP scanner identifies it as "unidentified hidden device".

Re: Network stopped working on B2
OK! Now I can reach the bubba through ssh. I detached everything but my mac and bubba from the router and lo and behold, there was the bubba. With another IP than what the router is set to give it. That is very good. But the bubba does not show up as a share in os x, which it has always done before....

Re: Network stopped working on B2
I have emailed them now. Let's see what that gives!
I still cannot believe this. I just unplugged everything and then plugged it back in. No changes.

Re: Network stopped working on B2
Tried that too. No luck. It does not show up as attached to the router, nor in an IP scan. There's no IP to ssh to…
Starts to feel a bit hardware-ish. I don't know. Any more suggestions?

Re: Network stopped working on B2
The Bubba shows up in my list of available shares in os x. But I cannot connect to it. That is when I have a cable from the LAN port to the Macbook. But the IP I get on the Ethernet interface on the mac is self assigned (169.x.x.x). And the LAN port also shows only green light. Is there a next move ...

Re: Network stopped working on B2
Yes it is directly connected to the router. I tried with another cable and another port on the router. A port and cable that works perfectly with another computer. I have rebooted with the cable in the wan interface. I am right now trying to get my macbook to connect to the LAN port, but all I get i...

Re: Network stopped working on B2
Ah!
OK. Tried it. No luck. And the router doesn't seem to recognize it either. It does not show up as attached in the web admin of the router.

Re: Network stopped working on B2
Sorry. I don't follow. What's an IP-scan? My router is set up to assign a certain IP to the bubba. But the bubba is set up to receive through dhcp. Is that info evan relevant ?
