Bubbagen live-USB for B3 updated (Gentoo profile 17)

Hi, I've just released version 1.11 of the Bubbagen live-USB image for B3 on GitHub. Because the new Gentoo profile defaults to building position-independent executables and this may lead to incompatibilities with non-pie libraries this is a complete rebuild of the Live-USB. If you are already runni...

Re: Setting up a B3 miniserver

Hi Greg, I use a crossdev machine to run the major part of the compile jobs and once in a while there is a package that gets confused by the crossdev root not being / I did find that app-portage/eix is such a package and it hard codes the crossdev root inside its scripts, causing it to be unable to ...

Advice for LMS (Squeezebox) users

As I was running some updates yesterday I noticed my radio stream got interrupted up to the point where it became impossible to follow it. At the same time I got the idea that the update was running slower than it should. As it turned out the radio stream I was listening on through my Squeezebox Rec...

Re: Setting up a B3 miniserver

Hi, Always welcome feedback. Should probably look into that blank disk issue, but that may be simpler said than done and hard to test without buying at least one new disk myself. The date issue you are seeing is probably from one time being displayed in localtime and the other in UTC, possibly even ...

Re: B3 replacement

Guys, it's not like that. The point is that there is nothing wrong with OP's unit. There was just a little config problem that didn't turn up during tests and was solved the same day the issue got raised. The annoying part is that by then this topic already existed.

Re: B3 replacement

I really intend to keep the B3 running for as long as its hardware doesn't fry. And I actually do use Bubbagen myself, although my production system uses somewhat different USE flags and I don't use all of the functions that it provides (but who does? or did with the original software?). As such I f...

Re: Upgrade from RAID-enabled squeeze to stretch

Correct. Must note though that uImage needs to be in /boot of what will typically be /dev/sda1. This means that if you mount /dev/sda1 as /boot that uImage must be at /boot/boot/ in your filesystem. Another thing is that the uBoot environment loads your kernel with a command line that sets root at /...

Re: Upgrade from RAID-enabled squeeze to stretch

Correct. The first partition on the disk (where `/boot/uImage` has to reside) has to be either FAT, ext2 or ext3 formatted. That doesn't mean you can't use ext4 for root though, it just means you need to move root to a different partition. Might want to note that 10G is probably a bit tiny for moder...

Re: Any B3's for sale in Europe?

~35 euros doesn't sound that bad to me and given the base price customs should leave it alone as well. Also, I just checked what postage would cost me for Poland and that rates at 18.50 euros and I wouldn't want to sell my spare unit for a price that this would make it worth while to you. I'm actual...

Re: z-stick aeotec gen5 cant get it working....

You may like to try create a symlink named `ttyUSB868` (or whatever number you see fit) towards the ttyACM0 device. Chances are that the software ignores it because of the `wrong` naming.

Re: Fuse in B3 power supply

Nope. However, as the PSU is rated 3A @ 12v we know that the primary side must be able to draw a minimum of 36 Watts as well. Here's the tricky part: because the PSU works with both 115 Volt and 230 Volt it should be able to function with a 160mA fuse in Europe but it needs to be 320 mA in USA. Allo...

Re: Bubbagen Live-USB for B3 updated (Linux 4.9.49-r1 LTS - Gentoo stable)

Do you run a B3 Wifi? Minidlna service is restricted to eth1 by default and I think this may not be updated by the frontend if you turn on Wifi and the LAN interface becomes br0.

To fix this edit /etc/minidlna.conf and change the network interface to serve on line #5. Save and restart minidlna.

Re: Bubbagen live-USB for B3 updated (Linux 4.4.39 LTS - Gentoo stable) + revision Apr 25

Cause found! Truly sorry about that. It appears that the DHCP config file got truncated somehow and the B3 is actually not getting the address it should get which causes DNS not to work. I've updated the image on GitHub, but if you can access the B3 from the WAN side you can simply apply the require...

Hold on. I'll verify. We're probably looking at a combination of issues here. What operating system are you running on your laptop?

Re: Bubbagen live-USB for B3 updated (Linux 4.4.39 LTS - Gentoo stable) + revision Apr 25

You probably try to connect through the WAN port, which puts you on the wrong side of the internal firewall because the live-USB defaults to server-router mode. Use the LAN port instead.
