"Convert" binaries to different architecture?

This isn't really related to bubba, it's more of a linux newbie question i guess. I have got drivers to a printer/scanner in the form of binaries built for the x86 architecture. Since there are tools out there as Crosstools and such I was thinking maybe there are ways to reverse engineer those binar...

I've done the same thing as you, and my result was exactly the same as well.

Using

Code: Select all

sane-find-scanner
tells me that my scanner has been found but that it may or may not be supported. I guess it's not supported and thats why the actual scan-command doesn't work.

Some USB-memories doesn't seem to work during the reinstall process, do you have another one to try with?

I have a similar situation but the printer is a Samsung SCX-4200 instead. I guess there's no way to get scanning up and running without a compatible driver installed on bubba, and in my case Samsung do provide one but unfortunately not for the PPC platform. Could there perhaps be generic drivers ava...

I've had such a setup for quite some time now. It started with my Bubba1 and now I've moved on to the new Bubba2. Both working without a flaw. The hardware I use under my TV is a Popcorn Hour A-100 unit. It's fairly cheap (under 180 EUR) and doesn't require a harddrive to operate. It connects throug...

I have only found one reinstall-image yet and as far as I understand it will format the harddrive completely. Is there another image available where the user-partition will be left alone?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it jumbo-frames can only be used if you have a complete gigabit network "all the way" meaning routers/switches/adapters right?

What aims do you have for us sitting on 100mbit interfaces?

I happened to notice that a user manual for bubba|two is now available at http://download.excito.net/web/BubbaTwo ... index.html.

... just in case you overlooked it ;)

Looks really nice!

Have you made any measuring of throughput for the new platform? Or how much could you expect given the hardware?

The old bubba does around 3MB/s over SMB (maybe some more with NFS). I realize its hard to say exactly but between your thumb and elbow so to speak ;)

Hi,

If I reinstall the etch-image a second time, is the installer "smart" enough to see that the partitioning is already done and leave my /dev/hda2 be?

Or is it a mandatory format?

I've now installed the backports release of mysql (5.0.51a) and all problems are gone!

I've tried all kinds of different things and still haven't found a way to make the "lost connection" crash reappear.

Aha, I was suspecting a bug but didn't want to shout it out too early ;)

I'll try the backports release and hope it works with that, thanks!

How long does the query take to execute without the ORDER BY clause ?? Do you receive the above error mesaage immediately or after a long wait ? The query is very quick, the response is something like 0.1s and the query parses only about 30 rows. The error is also immediate, not after a while as yo...
