Re: Default root password = major security risk
This is only when talking about booting into a rescue system is it not? Otherwise, directly logging in as root is disabled by default on all interfaces. Also, if you don't know how to do something as simple as change a password (hint; use the command "passwd") you should probably avoid log...

Re: B2upgrade
It's fairly easy to reinstall the system without losing your /home partition if it helps.

The latest release requires a reinstall. Plenty of posts on this topic if you look around.

Yes, scrict regulatory compliance is also the policy of the developers of hostapd so as to avoid a lot of FUD over using wifi on Linux.

Re: Script to upload and download from Dropbox
Hey Daniel,
Sorry, don't know why I didn't see this reply before. I didn't know there was a list option, it's not in the help. How did you find out about it? Anyway, I couldn't get it to work with a brief play either so maybe that functionality isn't complete yet, hence it's missing from the help.

Re: Dropbox for Bubba ???
The short answer is no, it won't work as the Dropbox client is built for x86 architecture and B3 has an arm CPU. there is a bash script that uses the Dropbox API and works very nicely. Thought I'd posted a link to it here actually... Yep, here: http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4229&a...

Re: [Fixed] Permanently change DNS
The files in question have changed it would seem. You need to edit /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf.

Re: troubles updating Bubba Two
Possibly, you're on such an old version that the repositories have been moved. You would need to edit /etc/apt/sources.list. There's a couple of posts about it around here. That said, you can't update directly to the absolute newest version, it requires a fresh installation so you may as well look i...

Re: Does anyone have issues connecting to VPNs?
Hmm. I thought the problem existed on both wires and wireless connections, but I was connected for 40 minutes eaier over a wires connection. That puts a different spin on things.

Re: Does anyone have issues connecting to VPNs?
Thanks. My problem is I am one of the IT guys. Also, the VPN works fine over a 3G dongle and from other connections, so it's definitely something to do with my house.

Re: Set up mailserver
Just to totally contradict everything above, I have never had any of the problems Cheeseboy mentions. Possibly, this is a difference between ISPs/registrars in the UK (me) and Europe (him). Depends where you are I suppose.

Re: Set up mailserver
The web interface gets you set up with the basics quite simply. Just put all your information in the fields provided and you should be good (make sure you turn on the appropriate services and open the firewall ports). Dovecot = mail server Postfix = MTA (mail transfer agent) Does your ISP provide th...
