DHCP Client Timeout
Clive, Thanks for your input. While I had changed the dhcp client timeout before, it looks as though the recent software upgrade put back the old value. Changing it back to 120 enables Bubba to correctly pick up the IP adress whenever the router reboots even though Bubba remains on. This means that ...

My router does act as a firewall and DCHP server. It is a BT Home Hub which is connected into the telephone line through an ADSL filter. My Bubba is connected to it via an ethernet cable. The Bubba is then connected via USB and USB to serial to an X10 inteface, which controls the electrical devices ...

Picking up IP address when ADSL router reboots
I leave my Bubba on all the time and use it to control the electrical devices, lights and curtains within my home. At the moment, I also leave the ADSL router running all the time. I would like to turn the router off when it wasn't being used. My Bubba would then control the times that the ADSL rout...

Measured power consumption
Hi All, I have measured the power consumption of my bubba. I have a 350GB disk and have added a USB-Serial Converter to the USB port. I have then measured the power consumption as 8W (at the plug) in idle mode. This was with no-one accessing the bubba and admin browsing the bubba. Browsing files and...

Updating DHCP Client
Hello tor, Thanks for advice. I use bubba as my home server and is this only thing left on all the time ideally. I have edited the dhclient.conf file, changing the Timeout to 120. I then switched both bubba and DHCP server off, restarted bubba then the server and bubba managed to pick up the correct...

Network connection on reboot
The power supply to my house was temporarily cut off causing my bubba and network gateway to be rebooted. It appears that bubba came up first but didn't find a network to connect to. The network gateway then came up but didn't connect to bubba. As a result the system was not working properly. Can bu...

Security Cameras
I am planning to use web-enabled cameras controlled at the mains using X10 and normally off. I would then use the security system to detect a problem. I can then remotely turn on the cameras and have a look at what caused the problem. My emphasis is on keeping the overall power usage of the system a...

Bubba as an X10 Gateway
I bought a Bubba to use as a low cost, low power gateway for my X10 system that I can leave on permanently. It took less than 5 days to arrive. I use X10 to control lights and curtains in my home. It is also integrated with the security system. For example, when I arm the security system my external...

re Crosscompiling Modules for Bubba
I successfully followed bjorn's guide on Compiling Kernel and/or modules using Crosstool to compile and load the ftdi_sio module so that Bubba would drive a USB-Serial Adaptor. Updates to bjorn's guide are: Modules will only load is they are compiled with the same version of GCC as the kernel on Bub...
