How long for an fsck?

I shutdown bubba last night forcing fsck to run:

Code: Select all

shutdown -Fr now
That was about 12 hours ago and the LED is still blinking. Any idea how long this will take? It's a 320GB HDD, about 50% used.

If bubba needs help, I can't give it as I can't ssh to it. Is it safe to power down on the button?

Performance through the web interface on my laptop is slow.

When using the Squeezebox's remote control, performance is fine.

I had previously set up a working Samba configuration on a Fedora Core machine. When I ordered the bubba I expected to have to set up Samba again on it somehow but I didn't expect that it would be as easy as it in fact turned out. I set up accounts on bubba through the admin browser interface with t...

I have no problem with two users of the same name via Samba. I'd be happy to share my conf file if you want in case that's the issue.

2GB Download Limit because of wget?

Is the web interface download page of bubba limited to 2GB per file?

I just learned that wget, as installed on bubba, has this limitation and I rememeber from a while ago that the browser didn't manage a big download a while back...

I'm using curl instead

I guess you could buy one of those plugs that has a built-in timer that you can get to switch on at various times.

However, for each power-on there may have to be a power-off so you'll have to make sure bubba shuts itself down before the plug does it in an uncontrolled way.

Great Job!

I've had the Bubba for just over a week and it's a total pleasure to use. I can't pin down the thing I like about it most, pick yours: - Low power - Silent - Well made - Can support my custom shares via Samba - Runs all the Debian stuff I could go on... OK, so maybe it's a wee bit slow but only when...
