Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
I just checked the logs from said upgrade to 2.6. Here the essential fraction: Translations to English from me marked with -> [ ....] dpkg: Abhängigkeitsprobleme verhindern Konfiguration von bubba-frontend: -> [dependency problem prevents configuration ...] bubba-frontend hängt ab von bubba-album (>...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
There seems to be a name mismatch: Error message was (and still is): apt-get install --reinstall bubba-album ...... DBI connect('database=bubbaalbum;host=localhost;port=','bubba-album',...) failed: Access denied for user 'bubba-album'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/share/bubba-album/flush...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
I am really stuck. I now checked existin databases: # mysqlshow +--------------------+ | Databases | +--------------------+ | information_schema | | album | | horde | | mysql | | squeezecenter | +--------------------+ so that should already be fine. I logged in to mysql as root (was not asked for pa...

Re: Finding out what's using disk
The WD patch tool should still be part of the installation, see here:
http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f ... 120#p21725
Without that applied I would not recommend a WD-green drive for NAS use.

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
now I tried: dpkg-reconfigure bubba-album I get 2 choices offered: Da Sie bubba-album neu konfigurieren, möchten Sie vielleicht auch die │ │ Datenbank, die es verwendet, neu installieren. │ │ │ │ Falls Sie die Datenbank für bubba-album neu installieren wollen, sollten │ │ Sie diese Option wählen. Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.6
I did experience the same troubles while upgrading with apt-get dist-upgrade It runs smoothly through until it comes to configure bubba-album. There it presents a ncurses screen asking (translation): "Do you want to configure the data-base for bubba-album using dbconfig-common"? -> Yes and...

Re: Finding out what's using disk
mine reports a few hundred Start/Stop Counts. I don't get LCC's because it is no WD-Green, so it does not unload the heads after a few seconds.

Re: Finding out what's using disk
Ok Gordon, you are right, I am running only a few Excito-services on my box: a) FTP-server (seldom used) b) Samba, but generally there are no clients in my network, because we have all Linux PC's. Just our Smart-TV sometimes connects and wakes the B3 up. Generally I use NFSv4 which is much faster th...

Re: Installing NEW disc
Can't do that when moving from 1TB to 3TB, unless the 1TB is also configured to use GPT. I purchased my B3 in February 2012 with an 500GB WD-disk built in. That already was partititioned with GPT and the move to my 2TB went smoothly using 'dd'. Ingo EDIT: of course I had to "repair" the G...

Re: Installing NEW disc
Ok, guys BACK TO TOPIC. @Ingo ... thank you for explanation, but if i have naked disc that means i need PC with Linux + two more SATA free slots. Not possible with W7 laptop. Hi flimflam, sorry for assuming you have a Linux-PC at hand ;-). In your case you could use a special live distribution whic...

Re: Installing NEW disc
With the 5 minute patch in place I'm fairly certain both drives will behave the same except if you can manage to get the B3 in a non I/O state for more than 5 minutes. Moneywise this makes the green drives the better choice. It's that nasty easyfind which calls every 5 minutes. I solved it with: /e...

Re: Installing NEW disc
I did 'dd' the complete old HD -> new HD means what? Is it in manual? Just remove the old HD from B3, attach both (old and new) HD's to a SATA-port of your PC and use the Linux command 'dd' to transfer the content of the old one to the new (and larger) disk blockwise: dd if=<old disk> of=<new disk>...

Re: Installing NEW disc
I already replaced the HD in my B3 wit a larger one: Hitachi HDS5C3020ALA632 (2TB with 512 B physical sectors).
I did 'dd' the complete old HD -> new HD, plugged it into the B3 and all was fine. Then you can manage the remaining free space after B3 has booted up again.
Regards,
Ingo
