Re: how to restore a folder via duplicity
So what kind of encryption is used when doing backup from the web page. I hope it does not use gnupg with an public and private keys. If you do you should really stress that you have to have a backup of the private key because if you lose that your backup is toast. If you do use public private key w...

Re: Release notes for Excito Bubba 2 software version 2.4-RC
This file did not exist in the older version either you had to manually add it yourself.
The question is how good it is to have it as an empty file. It is supposed to have the default locale to use in it hence the name.

Re: Twonky on B3?
How does the first line in that file look like?
My guessing is that it is an faulty shebang. An faulty shebang usually gives this unhelpful error.

Re: RAID recovery fails after reinstall
Ubi I think you have to define what you mean by backup. From my understanding, which might be wrong since i do not now to much of RAID, is that he uses an software raid set up as an mirror raid where the same data is written to both hard drive. I guess that it was only the /home partition that was r...

Hi 86ivar, The host name of bubba_2 is NOT b2 I think it is bubba. So Bubba 1 and 2 has the same hostname which is bubba. Bubba 3 was renamed to B3 instead of Bubba 3. But to make sure what your own bubba has run the command hostname and use that name in the /etc/hosts file. You should edit that fil...

Re: Release notes for Excito B3 software version 2.3.1
Ok, thanks for this information. If anyone else sees the squeecebox server issue please let us know. Problems with squeecebox might come from the fact that the script /usr/sbin/squeezecenter_safe is broken. At least it is on my B2. This is the script that is started and stopped from the init script...

Re: Mount exFAT on Bubba
I wounder if including open source exFAT implementation into the distribution is a good idee since it is an according to Wikipedia proprietary, patent-pending file system by Microsoft which takes license fee for usage. I guess this could lead to all possible legal problems for Excito.

Re: Mount LVM "bubba" volumes in new B3
Since I always wants to find solutions to problems I do know about even if I am not the one with the problem I just had to google a little bit more. What I did find was that you should not need to put the disk in an other computer to change the LVM volume group name as long as the discs are not exac...

Re: Installing a non-package software
Just make sure that you first install the package build-essential by running
as root to install the most common needed packages when compiling your own software.
Code: Select all
apt-get install build-essential

Re: Adding my own wiki to webserver on B3
Yes sorry I should have stated that it is a good thing that the www-data user does not belong to the users group to make sure that they fix the problem correctly that is give the user execute permission on the directories rather then doing something stupid and adding the group users to the www-data ...

Re: Adding my own wiki to webserver on B3
The web dir is missing the execution bit for the www-data user. To be able to access stuff in an directory you need to have execution permission on that directory read permission is not enough. The execution bit is set for the group users or rather the "set user or group ID on execution" b...
