In fact, has anyone any ideas why 'iptables' is running on the B3 at all ? I am not using my B3 as a router and it is sat behind my ADSL router which is handling all the port forwarding and stuff.
Would it be safe to switch iptables off in this situation ?

Problems with RPC ports for NFS
Hi Guys, I have started trying to configure my B3 to act as a boot server for my Raspberry Pi. However, I have run into some strange issues regarding the ports on the B3 after installing and configuring NFS. Installing NFS orginally worked fine and I was able to connect, however after a B3 reboot la...

Re: Problems with fetch mail and DNS addresses
Thanks Effevee!
Unfortunately that didn't work, but I fixed it by copying the resolv.conf from my Mac.
It was the same as my original resolv.conf, but missing the 'search lan' parameter. I am not sure what this does, and but my mail is now working without it.

Re: Problems with fetch mail and DNS addresses
Hmm, is that the issue ? The name server is not the one specified by my internet provider ? That IP address is my home router's admin port.. root@b3:/etc# more resolv.conf domain lan search lan nameserver 192.168.1.254 root@b3:/etc# <edit> No, changing the name server to my DNS server did not work :(

Problems with fetch mail and DNS addresses
Hi all, I have had major Bubba 3 problems over the past 24 hours (self imposed!) which forced me to rebuild and re-install my Bubba 3 from scratch. Everything is nearly working again, but the final problem is Fetchmail which is unable to access the external IMAP mail servers by stating the DNS name ...

Re: Dropbox for Bubba ???
Thanks for the pointer, Looks interesting, I will keep a watch on this. I think it's something Excito should also be interested in, as everything is going cloud based and files being stored 'who knows where' by 'who knows whom' , then to be able to turn Bubba into a cloud based storage server could ...

Dropbox for Bubba ???
I have been using dropbox for syncing files easily between my phones, PC's windows and linux. Does anyone know of anything similar which can be used with B3 ? I know there are plenty of SFTP mobile apps out there, but I quite like the convinience of Dropbox where the cloud files appear just as an ad...

B3 Webcam problems
I noticed somewhere that Cheeseboy had managed to get 'motion' up and running and connected a Webcam to his B3. I thought I would have a play, but each time I attempt to connect my ancient, Logitech webcam, the B3 detects it, creates the video0 device and then the kernel throws an error. Anyone have...
Re: B2 + B3
Note that I only brought the Bubba server (mk 1) out for the photo op, It is no longer in use. I must say that it is the best looking of the 3 though. Hey Excito, could we please have the old shiny pastel coloured cases back? I would pay extra to have my B3 look like that... I quite agree ! My rece...

Re: B3 dies without errors
Just thinking of another possible reason as my Bubba 1 did exactly the same and after 2 years uptime, suddenly hung at least once a month and need it's power plug removed to re-cycle. Nothing was ever listed in any of the logs prior to the hanging. The only thing that had changed was my router was u...

Update to text in Website
This page - http://excito.com/bubba/products/overview.html contains the text - "The web site is continously being updated with B3 information now, and the shop takes pre-orders. Enjoy." When reading that this morning I was under the impression that B3 was not yet available. But obviously i...

Bubba looses network interface ?
Hi, I've had my Bubba 1 for a number of years now, still reasonably reliable. However a couple of times in the last year it seems to have lost it's network connection with the router, the Bubba still seems to be running, it's logs show nothing else except a lost network connection. The light on the ...

Re: Spam email question
Fixed it !!! I had switched on the SMTP ports on my router, even though my internet provider does not allow me to send mail via SMTP, when I disabled this port. No more spam ! I am not too sure why this should cause this problem, but at least I am no longer getting drowned in emails for dodgy ...
