Re: Increasing choice
What we perhaps could do is to do what we did for Bubba Server. To provide a debian only installer for those who want to use their units as pure Linux boxes and tweak them to their own liking. Hi, Out of interest, how would this be different to uninstalling the Bubba-frontend and Bubba-backend pack...

New CPU architecture?
Is there any likelihood of a future model of Bubba server (Bubba Three?) using an x86 architecture? The Intel Atom processors are quite power friendly and it would make development much easier. Also, there is a fair bit of x86 only software that would be nice to install on a Bubba (I'm aware of Bosc...

Re: Please lets start a Wiki to collect all the great knowledge
+1, was going to suggest this myself. A lot of the posts in the How-To forum are only half finished and have replies that are not followed up. A wiki would be a much better format for that kind of thing and would allow collaboration and would help to keep information up-to-date. Afterthought - also,...

Re: Write errors when backup to FTP target
Can you insert the -p parameter into the line and test? Hi asparak, I'm not sure where you mean. If I use ncftp and then enter my username and password it works fine. If I use /usr/lib/web-admin/backup.pl backup admin nightlybackup it generates the error . Running 'ncftp -u xxxxxxx xxxxxx.onlinesto...

Re: Write errors when backup to FTP target
I'm having a similar problem. Uploading files manually using ncftp works fine as per pa's suggestion above. Running a backup from the web interface or the command line results in this error: . Running 'ncftp -u xxxxxxx xxxxxx.onlinestoragesolution.net' failed (attempt #2) . Giving up trying to execu...

Re: Mouting /home/storage as samba share - problem
Are the username and password in your fstab the same on both computers? I thought that Samba only looks at the credentials in the mount line so it shouldn't matter if the local accounts on the two PCs are different.

Re: Mouting /home/storage as samba share - problem
Hi, Here's my fstab line. It's working great at the moment. //192.168.10.1/storage /mnt/darren/storage smbfs nodfs,credentials=/root/.credentialsdarren,gid=users,uid=darren 0 0 /root/.credentialsdarren is a root-readable-only file with the format username=xxxxxx password=xxxxx domain=xxxxx This is s...

Re: Mouting /home/storage as samba share - problem
As usual a night of searching the interwebs turns up nothing and the minute I post a question in a forum I find the answer.
The option "nodfs" works for me but others have also reported success with "nounix".

Mouting /home/storage as samba share - problem
Hi, I can access the /home/storage directory on my Bubba Two via Windows Explorer and via the Ubuntu (9.04) "Connect to Server" option with no problems. However, as soon as I try to mount the share on the same Ubuntu box via fstab things go a bit wrong. This way I can browse, open, delete ...

Re: resize2fs giving weird results
Right, I think I've finally answered my own question. df -h doesn't count the reserved space of a filesystem (that's my new thing I've learnt today) so it appears that the Bubba installation sets the ext3 filesystem to reserve 10% of the space rather than the default 5%. Is there any reason for this...

Re: resize2fs giving weird results
OK, ignore me. I think I'm not taking into account the reserved space for the OS and swap space. [EDIT]Or perhaps not. It appears the swap and OS are on separate primary partitions (only had the Bubba Two for a couple of days so I'm still finding my way around it). Also, The partition the lv ...

resize2fs giving weird results
Hi, I am resizing the main lv and filesystem so I can create an encrypted partition on my Bubba Two using DM-Crypt and LUKS. What's weird is if, for example, I resize /dev/mapper/bubba-storage to 807G, upon remounting df -h tells me the filesystem is only 795G in size. I've tried a few different siz...

Re: Online Backups?
Worth looking at http://www.rsync.net $0.72 per GB per month, secure and well established, with simple scriptable backups. Thanks but that is ludicrously expensive. Some of the places I've seen (including Mozy) offer unlimted storage for $5 - $10 per month. At the rates you've quoted I'd easily be ...

Re: Online Backups?
Thanks for that. I've tried Humyo before and it's a total non-starter as it's too slow (several UK based customers had the problem but the Humyo team were burying their head in the sand over it). Never heard of Bingodisk though. I've found a few providers that offer ftp access so that combined with ...
