Re: Gentoo Live-USB for B3 Updated (with Weekly-Autobuild Binhost Backing, including Kernel)

Hi andyb3, sorry to hear you are having problems with this >< We use a couple of Gentoo B3's at home for WiFi gateways, using the identical image you are running, and it seems to work OK with iPads, phones etc. I assume you're able to ssh in OK on the LAN port, so you are receiving an address over D...

B2 genup users - please mask mariadb-10.1.24 pro tem

Hello, if you are using my isshoni.org binhost to supply binary packages for your Bubba|2 box (running gentoo-on-b2 ), please issue the following: b2 ~ # echo "~dev-db/mariadb-10.1.24" >> /etc/portage/package.mask/mariadb The specified release of mariadb is not building on ppc in the curre...

Re: Debian 9 (stretch)

I see that there's a official Debian kernel image for marvell cpu:s[1]. Can that kernel package be used on a B3 as is? It would be great to run a kernel that is maintained by Debian [...] Hi fredrikj, so, for fun I've taken a quick look at this. Good news on one level: I've managed to get the 'offi...

Gentoo Live-USB for B3 Updated (with Weekly-Autobuild Binhost Backing, including Kernel)

Hello, I've just released version 2.0.0 of the live-USB image of Gentoo Linux for the B3 on GitHub ( here ). All included packages are up-to-date against the Gentoo tree, as of 19 June 2017; a full package list may be viewed here . Major changes in this release: An "interstitial" kernel is...

Re: Arch Linux Live-USB for B3 updated (archlinuxarm.org kernel)

Hi - I've just released version 1.5.0 of the live-USB image of Arch Linux for the B3 on GitHub ( here ). All included packages are up-to-date against the Arch tree, as of 13 June 2017. The kernel supplied on the image is 4.11.4-1-ARCH (in which the SATA bug described here has been fixed), and as bef...

Re: B3: problem with 4.11 (and 4.12-rc3 mainline) kernels / sata_mv

Turns out Arch's linux-kirkwood-dt has had this fix applied already, two days ago, in 4.11.3-2.

So archlinux-on-b3 users should be OK to unpin the kernel now, and retry pacman -Syu.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused!

Best, sakaki

Re: B3: problem with 4.11 (and 4.12-rc3 mainline) kernels / sata_mv

Update: Andy Shevchenko has replied and kindly pointed me to a fix in the upstream , which reverts his 368e5fbdfc60 (essentially, what I posted above). Commit message reads: Revert "ata: sata_mv: Convert to devm_ioremap_resource()" This reverts commit 368e5fbdfc60732643f34f538823ed4bc88298...

Re: B3: problem with 4.11 (and 4.12-rc3 mainline) kernels / sata_mv

Hi, this was annoying me so I did the kernel bisect today. The offending commit appears to be 368e5fbdfc60 . I think this commit will break all kernels on the B3 (Arch, Gentoo, whatever) >= 4.11 (by break I mean that the sata driver won't start, so no HDD). I'm going to contact the commit owner now ...

B3: problem with 4.11 (and 4.12-rc3 mainline) kernels / sata_mv

Hi, there appears to be a problem with the >= 4.11 linux kernel on the B3, which is preventing the sata kernel drivers starting up properly. From dmesg: [ 0.828904] sata_mv f1080000.sata: version 1.28 [ 0.828922] sata_mv f1080000.sata: can't request region for resource [mem 0xf1080000-0xf1084fff] [ ...

Bubba|2 Gentoo Users - Please Check /usr/bin/python

Hello, if you are using Gentoo on your B2 , please note that a recent issue within the Gentoo tree may have resulted in the /usr/bin/python link being misdirected. As a result, issuing "python" at the command line will not work and many installs / upgrades (such as when using genup) will f...

Re: Gentoo live-USB for Bubba|2 updated (Linux 4.9.16 LTS)

The live-USB has getbinpkg set in FEATURES (via make.conf), as of v1.4.0, so that option isn't needed (but won't do any harm).

Re: Gentoo live-USB for Bubba|2 updated (Linux 4.9.16 LTS)

OK, the affected libraries have now been rebuilt and their binary packages pushed, and genup's latest automated weekend run has also just completed successfully. Therefore, if you are using Gentoo on your B2, and are subscribed to the the https://isshoni.org/b2 binhost, it is now safe to run genup a...

Re: b2 howto install dhcpcd5?

Hi - the Bubbagen live-USB is currently for the B3 only. I have a Gentoo live-USB for the B2, available here . It currently ships with a command line (ssh) interface only, but it does have dhcpcd v6.11.3 bundled. Like all the live-USBs on this forum, you can try it out without having to wipe your ex...

Re: Gentoo live-USB for Bubba|2 updated (Linux 4.9.16 LTS)

Hi again - OK, sys-devel/gcc-5.4.0-r3 and libtool have now been successfully built on the B2, and the binary packages pushed. However, per this Gentoo news item , because gcc 5 uses the new C++ 11 ABI by default, I am currently running a precautionary rebuild of the affected packages using: b2 ~ # r...

Re: WARNING for Gentoo users!

Hi Gordon - haven't seen any issues with it yet on ppc or arm64 on Gentoo. Just recently removed the package.mask entry for this on my Gentoo B3s, seems ok but will keep an eye on it.
