B2 migrate to B3: NFS Problem
Hi Thanks to the forum for solving my issue with sending emails from my b3 (http://forum.excito.net/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4627). I'm now hoping for a bit more help with replacing my b2 with a b3. This time it's NFS which is beating me up. As far as I can tell, I mirrored my b2's NFS setup on the b...

Re: How do I get b3 to send its own emails
Ubi, thanks for your email. The decision to install ssmtp was based on ignorance of the command 'mail'! In summary, therefore: 'D'oh!' Fortunately I'm in the early days of configuring the new b3 to take over my b2's functions so system borkage will be corrected by a reinstallation of the OS. I'll in...

Re: How do I get b3 to send its own emails
Guys, thanks for your replies. rog I'm reasonably confident with scripting but perhaps I do need more basic help. What I'm looking for is a command I can use in a script to send a message to my email address (gmail). After my post I did find something that worked; ssmtp. This does the trick but, whe...

How do I get b3 to send its own emails SOLVED
Hi
Can someone please help me with a problem?
I'd like my b3 to be able to send emails to me when it encounters problems with cronjobs, etc. I've reserved a gmail address for it but now I'm stuck and a trawl of the forum has come up blank.
Thanks in anticipation

Inotify and incron
Is there a way of using these with Bubba 2? I've tried:
but the package is apparently not available
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install incron

Re: ssh public key authentication
...SSH does not know if the group that the home folder has is only accessible by the user and that it will stay so. If any other user has write permission to the /home/press folder that user can change the /home/press/.ssh folder and hence put its own public key there and then login in as the user ...

Re: ssh public key authentication
The answer, as suggested by ubi, was to change the group mode of my home directory to not-writeable. Even though the group had me as its only member, this was unacceptable. This is a change I made to bubba2's set-up that wasn't wise and I'll be changing it back. Thanks to both of you for pointing me...

Re: ssh public key authentication
Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm confident that they'll help me get the problem sorted. When I get the chance to try them out (I'm a bit tied up with the five and one-year olds this morning, naturally), I'll report back.

ssh public key authentication
I'm trying to set up bubba2 so that I can log on to it from selected computer accounts without a password using public key authentication. I've created a key pair on the remote computer: ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 1024 and sent it to bubba2: ssh press@bubba2 "cat >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys" < ~/....

I hope I understand you right - see if this helps (900 series, at least). Ubuntu-Eee should work as installed. You can drag windows off the top of the screen (and so see the bottom of the window) by holding <Alt> while left clicking and dragging. If it doesn't, see the section 'ubuntueeetweak' at ht...
