What checks after power cut
We had a power cut last night so bubba will have been shut down without warning. It seems fine right now but what can I check to make sure nothing bad happened?

In advance of posts by wiser users... 1) I don't know 2) It may be possible to have bubba monitor itself and, when activity drops below a certain level, power down. A more elegant way may be to power down the HDD after a period of no access. Bubba comes set to run it continually. This setting can be...

Performance Tests
Here are some performance tests: Hardware Bubba, 128MB, 320GB HDD Network is 'g', SlimServer is running on bubba delivering the web interface to a wireless, reasonably specced laptop running Firefox. Bubba will be the bottleneck, I think. Library Statistics Music library contains 655 albums with 878...

This Duet looks good. Essentially it seems to move the display of the current Squeezebox to the remote, greatly enhancing it in the meantime and adds features like ability to control multiple 'receivers'. I would love this, I could put my Squeezebox upstairs and have this in the living room. However...

Files invisible to Windows
Using Samba on bubba, many but not all of my shared files and folders are suddenly invisible to Windows. The problem affects many directories but not all files in any particular directory. The files aren't hidden as far as Windows knows the term and Explorer is set to show all hidden files/folders a...

1. I don't know much about ethernet by plugs. If they give the required speed, fair enough. A better network configuration may be to have all your documents held on the bubba, which will always be on, and shared through Samba. This way any PC will be able to access them whether or not other PCs are ...

The bubba's disk doesn't spin down by default. The designers reckon that this is better than it spinning down on a timer then powering up on network activity. Starts and stops wear it out more than continuous running.neilg wrote:I notice that the Bubba's hard disk keeps going after the upload is finished.

OK, so far, so good... From the minimal install, I ran fsck on bubba's hard drive. There were errors but they were corrected. I rebooted bubba but, even after running overnight, it was still sitting with the LED flashing but this time with the HDD light off. I mounted bubba's hard drive so I can see...

Green LED on front is blinking slowly. Red light through vents is on and flickering - I take that to mean there is disk activity. If I power down, when bubba restarts will it still want to do fsck and, if it does and hangs (waiting for user intervention that I cannot give it), how can I restart it w...
