Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.2

Post by johannes »

This is a new minor upgrade. The upgrade is available only as a web update, and for both Bubba 2 and Excito B3.

How to upgrade
To upgrade a running system, make sure you don't have any activities running such as uploads, downloads, print jobs etc. Then log in as admin in web-ui. Choose "Settings" menu entry. Choose "Software update" in the sub menu.

New features and major changes
* Update of Logitech Media Server to 7.7.2
* Minor fix that solves RAID restore issues on some systems
* Fixed 5 GHz WiFi

Hi Johannes,

I notice this has a new kernel to upgrade. Does this require a reboot of the system? I only ask as you normally specify this.

Thanks.

Yes, the kernel is updated and this does require a reboot. (You will get notified and recommended to reboot when doing the update)

I'am very happy with that upgrade. Now the 5Ghz wireless network works as wished. Transfer rates are gone up to 12 mb/s. nice!

Don't blame Excito for this, they have updated the interface and I'm currently working on updating bubbamon as well. The thing is I'm running low on steam, my day time job takes a bit to much effort currently, so I'm a bit fed up with coding when I get home, but be patient it's coming. Unfortunately I'm leaving on a one week vacation to Croatia next week, and I doubt I'll make it before then, but the good thing is this will hopefully bring the steam back up to normal :-)

Until then, use the old workaround.

Now I can finally get a stable wifi connection from my Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 based laptop without having to disable 802.11n in the iwlagn/iwlwifi driver.

Thank you!

Great,

Code: Select all

CONFIG_USB_HIDDEV=y
is now also enabled in the 2.6.39.4-11 kernel, so apcupsd is also supported.

Many thanks,
Ingo

As with the last update this one appears not to have comleted - afte a lot of status bar and step and download activity (which I have to say gives very little sense of where one is in the process, what is done, or remains to be done), I am left with a blank 0% status bar and no other indication of what has been done!

Clicking Admin never gets me to the login now, so the web interface is in an odd state. I can use SSH.

What is the safest thing to do at this point?

Thanks,

Mark

I would SSH into the box and do an "apt-get upgrade". It will either complete and you can then reboot the server or it will complain and give you an idea of what's wrong.

Thanks...

Code: Select all

# apt-get upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
So reboot?
