Favourite BT site requires rTorrent 0.7.9

Post by matkr265 »

I just got my B2 and is tring to configure it to work just the way i want it :D

I want to use my B2 to download torrents from my favourite BT site but they do not allow ftd so I installed rTorrent (0.6.4) via apt-get.

Sadly the BT site requires 0.7.9 :?

Is it possible to install rtorrent 0.7.9 on the B2 and if so is there a quick guide on howto do just hat?

EDIT:
Found some instructions on Google (did not work propely)
http://libtorrent.rakshasa.no/wiki/Install
http://www.howtoforge.com/compile-rtorr ... ardy-heron

But they install from the development sources and they require some packages (libcurl4) that are not retrievable from apt-get with the current sources.list.

The available rtorrent packages in upstream debian can be found at http://packages.debian.org/search?keywo ... lla-search
As you can see there, 0.7.9 is available from lenny and sid; though no backport to etch have been made; As libcurl4 is a new package in lenny and sid, it could perhaps be possible to backport it to etch, though at the moment I can't guaranty that.

Im really interested in the Bubba TWO, this sadly is a big problem for me Since almost all private BT sites require 0.7.9 or later version of rtorrent.

Now I don't know if this page might help I hope someone understands it better then I do.

and/or this:

matkr265 and Carl let us know if you get it working.

Hi I installed rTorrent from SID and that broke everyting, a factory reset was the quickest way for me to get my B2 running.

The InstallRtorrentOnDebain looks promising, I'll try that as soon as possible.

I have now backported rtorrent 0.7.9, it is at the moment available in claire (haven't tested it fully) had to backport libtorrent10 libxmlrpc-c3 and libcurl3 as well. if someone dare to, you could try this one, but no guaranties.
