Using oldish USB wifi dongle with B2

Post by mountaindude »

After upgrading my B2 (no wifi module installed) with a new SSD and reinstalling the latest version of the software, I thought I'd use an old D-Link DWL-122 USB wifi adapter that I had lying around, for some wifi experimenting with reaver and similar security related stuff.

But I just cannot get it to work...
The udev rules are in place, but the needed kernel modules just won't load. They don't even seems to be included? And compiling them just fails miserably. Yeah - I guess I am just not good enough with building Linux low-level stuff..

Any ideas/pointers/suggestions?

The card has a Prism2 chipset according to most specs, even though a lsusb gives back:

Bus 001 Device 017: ID 2001:3700 D-Link Corp. DWL-122 802.11b [Intersil Prism 3]
...

Either way, there should be drivers around, if I've understood things correctly.

Thanks in advance,
Göran
