2.6 upgrade really did a number on my B2...

Post by Tweety »

File manager isn't working, shows only the bar with arrows to sort files, nothing more... Fireplay is refusing to connect, a la 2.4.1 issue... Lot's of other issues...

So, I did a re-install from USB (keeping my files), and hit upgrade again... Same story... OK, then, gloves come off...

Moving all my files is a PITA, so I just popped another drive in for testing... Made a CLEAN install from USB... Everything works, as per 2.4.1... Hit upgrade... SAME RESULT!

So... How about fixing the 2.6 post haste, and giving me the option to go from 2.4.1 to 2.5.1.2 which worked fine... Cuz this clearly isn't working...

This is really strange, we have tested this thoroughly and it works on a freshly installed B2 in office. Can you give me a more detailed problem report? For instance, if you email support with a screenshot from your non-working file manager we will have a look.

Sorry and thanks in advance.

Gladly...

I'll send off an e-mail... Any specific logs I should attach too?

Hmm, no, but please send a screenshot from the settings -> software update menu showing the package versions (expand the version list please), so we can see if the update went well?

Many thanks

I have a similar issue, which I wrote support about a couple of days ago (without response I'm afraid).
I re-installed my B2 yesterday, after upgrading to a 2 TB harddisk, and
then tried to update the software (now the 2.6 kernel). Upgrading my B3
continued without a glitch, but the B2 update is stuck at 0 % (Hotfix,
gathering data for remote analysis).

I tried updating via SSH (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade) which took care
for part of the update, bubba-album, bubba-backend and tor were held back.
I tried to force the update by using apt-get dist-upgrade, which worked
(only tor held back), but after that the update via the web-interface
didn't work anymore ('please contact support').
For now I am running the vanilla B2 again (2.4.1), but I'd like to upgrade it.

I also have problems after upgrading to 2.6 on my B2.
Until now I noticed two problems:

- I can't connect to my b2 network drives in Windows Explorer anymore.
I tested it also on a new user in windows, without any old connections, but still the same problem.
Even bubba\storage is not accessible which, i thought, was accessible for anyone.
Accessing bubba\storage or \home by the web or ssh works as usual.

- Squeezebox server is not accessible from the clients. It doesn't show up in the network:

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at bubba:9000.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web

I restarted my b2 twice but no result.

Strange thing is that i have a b3 kernel ??:

I am having similar problems with my B3 and all the problems started happening after doing a USB recovery using the file b3-install-2.4.1.1.zip

- I can no longer find the B3 under Windows Explorer. I am connected to my B3 through a linksys wireless router. I can only access it via <name>.myownb3.com
- Also I can not do a software update on my B3 and I get the following message, "Cannot connect to the updater daemon; Please contact support". Here are my software versions

bubba 2.6
bubba-album 2.6
bubba-backend 2.2.1
bubba-frontend 2.6
bubba3-kernel 1:2.6.39.4-11
filetransferdaemon 0.55

I solved my problem above . After a lot of research (google is my best friend ) i find out i had a full system partition.
You can check this by typing df -k in ssh.
In my case i had 0% disk space available in /dev/sda1.
The reason was that the /root/.cache folder was filled up with duplicity files.
After removing them, and a reboot (don't know if this is necessary) i can reach squeezebox server and fileshares in windows again. I don't know if this issue is related to the latest upgrade or it is just coincidence.

I have not so much knowledge of Linux but i hope the solution above will help people were to look, when they have similar problems.
