The newest bubba kernel for B2?

Post by paulchany »

Hi,

on my Bubba | Two hardware I have installed Debian Wheezy system, currently with the kernel:
Linux b2 2.6.39.4-4 #1 Fri Aug 19 14:41:59 CEST 2011 ppc GNU/Linux

I wish to have the newest kernel for this system. From where can I upgrade this kernel?

My sources.list is now:

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free

deb http://b3.update.excito.org/ stable main
Should I change the last line to something else to get the newest kernel for the Wheezy system?

Or, can I just download the
http://b3.update.excito.org/pool/main/l ... owerpc.deb

kernel and can I install it with

Code: Select all

dpkg -i bubba3-kernel_2.6.39.4-13_powerpc.deb
command?

Hi Pal,

Could you describe the steps you had to take to upgrade your bubba/2 to Wheezy?
I would like to do the same.

Thanks

Hello Oliver,

as I can remember, I did the followings described here:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/p ... ng.en.html

I don't remember what did I with the /etc/apt/preferences.d/excito file.

However, the /etc/apt/preferences.d/ directory is now empty.

Moreover, I backup this file in to another directory.

My /etc/apt/sources.list conatin now the following lines:

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free

deb http://b3.update.excito.org/ stable main
I'm running the
Linux b2 2.6.39.4-4 #1 Fri Aug 19 14:41:59 CEST 2011 ppc GNU/Linux kernel now.

I hope this helps, and I'm ready to help you more if you needed a help.
Best, Pali
