Hi, I have had my Canon i990 attached to Bubba|server ever since it arrived back in 2007. It seemed to work satisfactorily at first, but has intermittently refused to print on a number of occasions. Applications on my Vista PC seem to print successfully, and the print job appears in the printer queue, then disappears without any error report. The first print seems to work okay, but subsequent ones almost always fail.

The CUPS error_log doesn't seem to indicate that anything is wrong. Successful prints generate an entry such as:
I [27/Oct/2008:07:42:00 +0000] Adding start banner page "none" to job 649.
I [27/Oct/2008:07:42:00 +0000] Adding end banner page "none" to job 649.
I [27/Oct/2008:07:42:00 +0000] Job 649 queued on 'HomeInkjetPrinter' by 'kathryn'.
I [27/Oct/2008:07:42:00 +0000] Started backend /usr/lib/cups/backend/usb (PID 1520) for job 649.
, but failed prints generate nothing!

My i990 doesn't seem to appear in the foomatic database. Does that explain the odd behaviour?
