I like the thought of a window manager for the Bubba.
I installed the X11-components and got it working with Xming on Windows.

My question is if there is a possibility to install something like XFCE (http://www.xfce.org/) or another window manager. Is the B3 powerful enough for a Window system? Is SSH with X11 the way to go, or is VNC perhaps a better alternative?

I'm not sure of the practicality or use of such a function, more curoius I guess :)

OK I had to try it...

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install xfce4

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install tightvncserver

Code: Select all

vncpasswd
[pictures removed since they are no longer formatted properly in the forum]

So it works.
But what's the point?

Cheers,

Cheeseboy (have some uninstalling to do)

Haha, that's great, still haven't figured out the function just yet, any ideas?

Thanks for proof of concept!

Hi there,

Was hoping to get this going, but my B3 can't find the package(s). Any suggestions? Which location do I need to add to my sources to get this going?

Without success I have tried:

Code: Select all

 apt-get install xfce4
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package xfce4

root@b3:/home/adfra# apt-get update
[long list of URLs the forum doesn't allow me to post...]
Reading package lists... Done

root@b3:/home/adfra# apt-get install xfce4
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package xfce4
Thanks for your help!
