New firmware update 0.30.3

Post by tor »

Release notes for Bubba 0.30.3
=============================

This release took a bit longer then what we wanted. The major delay has been in the complete rewrite of the upload functionality. Hopefully we will be able to start adding new cool features in a more rapid pace now.

Major changes and new features
-------------------------------------

* Overhaul of the web based file manager.
- extended support for deletion and creation of directories.
- Improved navigation with new "navigation bar"
- Improved look&feel in Safari MacOS

* Brand new upload function
- support for uploading multiple files in one go.
- Upload detached from normal web based file management enabling easy multiple uploads.

* Improvements to the download manager.
- Improved torrent downloads, now directories are created whenever a download contains more than one file.
- Improved look&feel in Opera and Safari.

Updates and minor changes
--------------------------------

* Updated torrent library, libtorrent, used by download manager.

* Updated mt-daap Daap server. Now uses newer firefly branch, should fix problems with streaming to newer Roku Soundbridges.

* Updated Bonjour functionality, Avahi. Now announces WebPages of both normal web, web-admin, ftp, ssh services etc.

* Added option to remove users home directory when removing user.

* Changes to artwork in file manager. Now uses icons from Tango. (Unfortunately transparent png support is not working in IE6 resulting in a regression for users of that browser)

* Changed default upgrade repository from previously using ftp, now uses http.

Beyond this a lot of bug fixing and minor polishing has gone in to this release.

Thanks a lot !

As soon as my torrents are properly seeded, I'll upgrade.

For those who doesn't know, the new image can be downloaded here : http://update.excito.net/install/latest/.

Niclas has written a useful walkthrough when he reinstalled his bubba, you can find it there : http://www.howledge.com/index.php?n=Lin ... llTheBubba.

Thanks again to Excito's team for their efforts.

Hi bubbalibre,

Thank you for your nice comments.

A quick note however, our fault for not stating it.

You don't have to do a complete reinstall. To upgrade to this version just log in as admin in web-admin choose settings and click update firmware. This will update your firmware to latest version.

(You still should wait for your downloads to complete before doing this since the upgrade will restart the download manager)

Nice, I like the change that torrents now downloads in an new directory, but I still lack the option to set the dl/up speed.
As it is now, all my upload bandwith is used for torrents so its very slow to use internet on the other computers on the same network. ( I dont have trafficshaping on my router. :( )
I hope is implemented in the next upgrade.

Nice work with this first upgrade though.

Where is this 'update firmware' button you speak of? All I get is an 'update software' button and that's not doing anything. If I click settings all I see is the IP settings anyway.
