Disabling fetchmail when no network

I run my bubba continuously but use it to make sure that my internet gateway, a BT Home Hub, is only one when there is someone in the house.
As a result, the network is not always available.
Fetchmail then logs errors in syslog as it is unable to access the network (which is no longer there).
Is there any way of controlling fetchmail so that it only polls the mail server when a network is available?
