Firefox extension for Bubba stats

Now I know this idea might sound a little weird at first... 
Anyway, I was thinking that it might be nice to get some information (e.g. status of downloads, number of users connected, up-time, etc.) to display in Firefox's statusbar. That way users could quickly access the info without having to log into the Bubba via the web-interface or purchase an LCD screen or something. Especially with large torrent downloads (such as the Ubuntu Edgy Eft ISO I downloaded yesterday) it would be very handy if I could access those vital stats easily.
Unfortunately I've got no clue how such an extension would work but I'm sure someone with coding skills would be able to create it in a reasonable timeframe.
