Release notes for Excito Bubba 2&3 software version 2.4.1.1

Post by johannes »

This is a new minor upgrade. The upgrade is available both as an install image and as a web update, and for both Bubba 2 and Excito B3.

[Edit:] Note: For B2 the latest installer is 2.4.1 - do a web-update to reach 2.4.1.1

How to upgrade
Follow this guide to re-install the entire system, or do like this to update:

To upgrade a running system, make sure you don't have any activities running such as uploads, downloads, print jobs etc. Then log in as admin in web-ui. Choose "Settings" menu entry. Choose "Software update" in the sub menu.

New features and major changes
* Minor fix in the disk manager software, causing some systems to fail to reboot after creating RAID

The download for B2 is still 2.4.1 and not the new 2.4.1.1

The upgrade went smoothly, but sadly the promised APC-UPS support has not been enabled in the kernel for B3:

Code: Select all

ccat /boot/config-2.6.39.4-9 | grep -i -b4 -a2 hiddev
50531-CONFIG_USB_HID=y
50548-# CONFIG_HID_PID is not set
50576:# CONFIG_USB_HIDDEV is not set
50607-
50608-#
Will we get a new kernel soon?

Please contact support, and include the following information: did you change sources before updating? Did you ever update parts of the system manually? Did you install hddtemp beforehand, yourself?

Is there any changelog available for the 2.4.1.1 for the B3 (compared to 2.4)?

Yes, on the first post of this thread, plus the same post for 2.4.1 (see the headline about features and major changes).

The first post of this thread only mentiones:
* Minor fix in the disk manager software, causing some systems to fail to reboot after creating RAID
Is that really all with regard to B3? It requested me to reboot afterwards to write kernel and initrd to the flash?

while the post for 2.4.1 only deals with B2 and bringing it to the same system basis as B3.

Best regards,
Ingo

P.S.: as a Linux user I am used to see more details listed in changelogs - or aren't there more?

Ok, then I understand your question better. (And yes, the 2.4.1 was only for B2). The 2.4.1.1 was only what is mentioned, the request for reboot was since the update to 2.4 failed to ask for that reboot, despite releasing a new kernel. Hence this is actually a request for reboot since the 2.4 update, in case people didn't already do that.

Actually we don't have any public detailed changelogs but we are working on a new issue tracker that will be partly public, where this kind of stuff will be available. We are also opening up our git repo soon to allow people to follow us better. I'll have to get back on this when we are done.

Thanks for the information, especially a bug tracker would be really helpful for both user and Excito. It sould avoid a lot of questions here in the forum if users are able to check themselfs. So we'll wait for the B3-upgrade, Squeeze is still on

Code: Select all

cat /etc/debian_version
6.0.3
.

Best regards,
Ingo

Hi johannes,

i got this message after hotfix check and then bubba must check for updates:

->No hotfixes available, proceeding with upgrade.
->Error: parsererror

Is this something what is known for the B2? Some hints to check more?
