B3 loosing WiFi connection with devices

Post by eramoli »

Hi,

I have a number of devices connected to my B3 using WiFi. The issue I have is that now and then they loose the IP connection. On my Android devices this is very annoying since they sometimes then switch to 3G witch is a lot slower.

First, make sure you are on the latest software. In our 2.4.2 release, some improvements in the wifi drivers was included.

If you are on the latest, this is very difficult to pinpoint. We don't have other reports currently of bad wifi functionality, which leads me to beleive that it is something in your surrounding that is causing the problems. I kind of have this issue myself lately, but haven't given it much thought before. I have two Squeezeboxes connected through wifi and both of them sometimes loose the connection and fail to reconnect. I need to fully shut them down and restart.

Of course this can also be an issue with the Squeezebox software, since this also gets updated when installing a new server version. It is puzzling but doesn't really happen often enough to get frustrating.

Hi

@johannes: I am on 2.5.0.2. I however have a very polluted Wifi environment, I find between 30-40 WiFi APs from my living room :-(

I will try to enable more logging and hopefully get some more information than currently is displayed in the logs.

Is there any other setting than the "logger_syslog_level" in /etc/hostadp/hostadp.conf that should be changed to get as much logging as possible? I am setting this one to "0"

Since I am on vacation now I will not be able to analyse the results until August so it will take a while before next posting in this thread.

And (forgot to mention) just to make sure, did you reboot as suggested, after upgrading past 2.4.2? This is required for the changes in the new kernel to take effect.

I hope you find something out.
